This game does not support remote connection over your computer, according to the privilege and compatibility benchmarking, so you don't have to worry about someone getting access to your computer About the "sending files to the internet", I'm pretty sure that wasn't actually real, since you would've been prompt to accept the program to actually send personal files over the internet About the crazy stuff that was happening like the crazy windows, running softwares, changing backgrounds, moving mouse, I'm gonna try to explain on how it was made Each window is just another program to show the content it wants to show you; like a Flash or an Executable File; and is controlled by Window's built-in coding language, mostly VBS The game runs the VBS script to open those programs and do certain actions like: Closes after a few seconds, will not close even if the user closes it, or just spam open another for multiple times The melting screen is actually just a C++ script that takes a screenshot of your desktop and projects it to your monitor fullscreen while applying melting effects on it, so it's completely harmless About the cursor that moves on its own, I don't exactly know how it was made because there are certain coding formats that could do that like Python; but it's possible using the commands that's similar to 'sendkeys' that makes your computer type something even though you didn't touch the keyboard There's a lot to this game that I can explain, but my hands are tired from typing this right now But other than that, all I can say is this game is completely harmless and will not collect any sensitive information and will not do any damage whatsoever

So me and my friend started to play this game, and I have to say, you missed out on the minigame, "Lost." If you connect, you get put into a game with an option of typing to what seems to be an AI... but it is in fact a real person in a game lobby with you. In fact, the person (whoever he or she is) claims to be the creator of "A Dark Place." and will attempt to guess your name based on a list of email addresses the person has received, at least that is what the person had said when we were talking to her/him. It was especially freaky when he/she got my friends name (we used his email earlier) correct on the second attempt. He/She wasn't trying to freak us out, but was actually having and holding a conversation about the game and how tedious the forest part is with finding randoms keys to doors just to obtain another key to another door in said room. Very impressive and amazing stuff.

@@lemonywater2979 By the definition of what a virus is "a software that has the objective of manipulate and alter a computer funcioning without the permision of the user" Then yeah, its actually a virus that after all doesnt damage anything but still this game changes stuff like your desktop, opens windows and other programs without permission, etc. Even if most viruses are meant to do malicious things, some of them are not dangerous or does not have those malicious intentions, this game for example only uses these viruses to scare you, but still if you plan to play it yourself be careful just in case, i heard that theres a version that has no viruses but im not sure about that.

@@kzkaa.the way it creates popup windows and manipulates the desktop view directly outside of the game window to make it look like a computer virus. I did not knew u could do things like this with a game engine but that it required direct access to the OS and regarding this I have assumed that games created with game engines are a bit like sealed boxes only having access to the stuff that the game engine itself provides. To flip the windows desktop upside down, trigger popups and similar things with something created within Unity I thus thought was not possible. Well i dont know how the developer did it but its all new to me that this was possible to do.

This game is extremely unsettling and I love it. I wish I had cared to check it out so I could've played it before watching. To play this in dark silence would've killed me. Especially with that creepy repetitive laugh in the music box, the opening and closing of the cd tray (though my current laptop doesn't have one), and the "empty" room that gets creepier and harder to escape every time. Also there's something about billboarding (or whatever similar technique is used in this game) that really unnerves me, and a lot of threats and ominous glyphs use it. I love it. I love the spoooks!

very late comment but i'd say the beginning, middle, and up to around the end it was great, the issue was basically the endings itself, a shame too because, if you disregard the ending its amazing, but the endings are such a letdown at least the whole reality vs fake plays a cool part there, that was the only cool thing bout the ending sadly tho i heard the forest part had more interesting things like interaction with someone that answered and whatnot, but mark didnt see it

I was about to comment that all of the crazy stuff that's happening can be easily made with VBS But when Mark opened the mixer, it WAS made in VBS A little information about this game This game does not support remote connection over your computer, according to the privilige and compatibility benchmarking, so you don't have to worry about someone getting access to your computer About the "sending files to the internet", I'm pretty sure that wasn't actually real, since you would've been prompt to accept the program to actually send personal files over the internet About the crazy stuff that was happening like the crazy windows, running softwares, changing backgrounds, moving mouse, I'm gonna try to explain on how it was made Each window is just another program to show the content it wants to show you; like a Flash or an Executable File; and is controlled by Window's built-in coding language, mostly VBS The game runs the VBS script to open those programs and do certain actions like: Closes after a few seconds, will not close even if the user closes it, or just spam open another for multiple times The melting screen is actually just a C++ script that takes a screenshot of your desktop and projects it to your monitor fullscreen while applying melting effects on it, so it's completely harmless About the cursor that moves on its own, I don't exactly know how it was made because there are certain coding formats that could do that like Python; but it's possible using the commands that's similar to 'sendkeys' that makes your computer type something even though you didn't touch the keyboard There's a lot to this game that I can explain, but my hands are tired from typing this right now But other than that, all I can say is this game is completely harmless and will not collect any sensitive information and will not do any damage whatsoever
