He Richard Steven Valenzuela aka Ritchie Valens. Was one of the first Mexican Americans to make it big during the early years of the 1950's when Rock & Roll was born. He had many hits including his signature song 'La Bomba. Which he sang in Spanish. " Then came "Oh Donna," "Come on Let's Go," "OH My Head," "You're Mine," and " Let's Go." On February 3rd 1959. He along with JP Richardson aka The Big Bopper. And Buddy Holly all died in a plane crash...It would later become infamous "As the Day the Music Died." Don Maclean put this tragedy to song. It (American Pie) would become one of the most iconic, and greatest songs ever written. Great reaction as always.

She's right...the word "Eternity" is powerful AF in this song..The lyrics are so simplistic and sincere. Timeless. In 1950s America, a man, a kid actually, fell in love, and took that passion with him. That love didn't die on that day. It's eternal.

Back then it will be impossible to get an approval from a Caucasian family to date their daughter cause that’s how racism was in the 1950 to 1980’s it was very “difficult” so about 98 percent of the Caucasian parents will do everything to separate there daughter to stop dating a man outside their race, only way too get an approval would be if you were Caucasian male. It’s sad that race play a lot of roles back then, and today society you can date outside your race if you love that one special girl/male outside your race.

February 3, 1959 was a tragic day for the young genre Rock and Roll. A plane crashed in Clear Lake, Iowa killing all on board namely Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson aka "The Big Bopper" and 17 year old Richie Valens along with the pilot, Roger Peterson. Don McLean wrote a song "American Pie" memorializing this tragedy. Thank you for reacting to this song. Give "American Pie" a listen. I remember this day! The day the music died." Buddy Holly, J.P Richardson (The "Big Bopper") and Ritchie Valens were touring the Midwest on the "Winter Dance Tour." They had just played A show at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa and were on their way to Moorehead, Minnesota to play their next show. Rather than travel by bus in the freezing cold, Holly decided to charter a plane, the plane crashed on the Iowa/Minnesota border killing all three performers and the pilot. Tommy Allsup, a guitarist on the tour gave up his seat to Ritchie Valens when they tossed a coin and Ritchie called heads.

This song and Oh Donna were about the girl he met in high school. Her name was Donna. Unfortuntaley because she was white and he was mexican, her father kept her away from Ritchie. That was considered interracial back then. Please watch the movie La Bamba starring Lou Diamond Phillips playing Ritchie so you get a better knowledge. Then watch The Buddy Holly story starring Gary Busey as Buddy. Buddy was on the plane with Ritchie when it crashed February 1959. FYI; Ritchie was deathly afraid of flying and still got on that plane. But you have to watch the movie to understand why.
