Lol they way I do this is taking a paper plate and double sided tape attach the plate to the floor so it doesn’t move then Smear the peanut butter on the plate nice and thick an then allow the dog to start licking while you start with the back nails! I have two pits and my female hates her feet being touched but this works

my dog freaks if you come at him with any "tool" besides the brush. He wouldn't let you touch his feet if you gave him steak. He has high anxiety about pain. He had a little cat scratch and acted like he was hsving a heart attack. He just needs to be knocked out,k trimmed, get his sacs emptied and woke up. and muzzled. just in case. I don't want him to ever have a bite record.

Yep, this is my dog for sure. Just dropped him off at the groomer where he has to be sedated every single time. He won’t even let me clean his eyes without fighting me 😭

Please do not actually do this!!!! As someone who used to work at a dog grooming salon, I can tell you this is incredibly dangerous!! 1. Pulling a dogs paws forward to trim their nails is awkward and uncomfortable for the dog. A dogs paw naturally goes backward, and should be gently pulled towards the back when clipping their nails. This is much more comfortable for the dog, and is more natural for their joints. 2. Never put your face close to the dogs face when trimming their nails EVER. Especially if the dog is uncomfortable. It’s very possible that you could accidentally clip the quick of the nail which is painful and can result in the dog lashing out and biting you in the face. If you have to trim your dogs nails from home, I recommend doing your research and looking up videos of actual professionals doing it. This is for the safety of you and your pet.

Very true, I have the tamest Chihuahua ever and he would never ever bite me. That when I took his paw and I caught one of his nails he pulled and I got the quick and it hurt him so bad he went to bite me. He realized what he was doing and then felt so bad for even attempting to bite me. His mouth didn't make it to my hand because he realized what he was doing very quickly, but he felt terribly bad that he even attempted to bite me. And I've expressed his anal glands and that would be a perfect reason to try and bite me but he never did so that's how much that hurt him when I cut the quick on his nail. I also have the powder to clot the bleeding but he bled pretty good. So something that was suggested to me is to have someone hold him when I cut his nails. And that's from the woman that comes over and cuts my birds nails. and she has her daughter to help her when she does the birds and when she does my dog. I just don't like dealing that myself it seems better to let someone else do it. If I do decide to do my dog's nails again I'm going to have someone hold him. the thing is is dogs know when you're nervous so that's going to make them nervous and I'm not really extremely confident in doing his nails. And with covid-19 and his nails getting long I might have to do it myself again, but this time I'll have someone in my family hold him.

All 4 of my pitties have to have their trimmed.. i typically take them but considering a very harsh and uncalled for thing happened at my vet resulting in death of my little man, minpin yes with 4 big bulldogs 😂, so I no longer take them to that vet.. which was less than 10 minutes from me.. their new vet is around 45 minutes away so I’m gonna attempt to trim them myself!! You may look like the biggest dork but you’re a GENIUS DORKY!! I’m definitely getting the stuff to attempt this, this weekend.. thanks for sharing

This is not a good idea no matter how great of a dog you have... If you cannot cut your dog's nails, I would suggest just allowing your vet to do it. It is never a wise thing to do and having your face right up with your dog's face and mouth. It's just instinct for a dog to defend itself when it gets hurt. There have been several maulings (including by a Pug) because of people trying this. It is downright dangerous. Just use a Kong or take your dog to the groomers.

@Me Mek Nail trimming is typically a stressful time for most dogs, and many dogs will bite at the hands of someone who is trimming their nails even in a normal placement of the dog facing forward (away from the human) with the human just behind the shoulders (gently lifting the paws backwards). Placing your face close to a dog is a threat towards the dog, and some dogs may bite. Combine the two situations (threatening the dog during an already very stressful time) and, aside from the threatening nature of it, putting your face in the direct line of fire is how you get bitten and/or mauled.
