I have been welding for over 40 years and I think that you nailed it with flux core. Your welds looks good. Trix&Tips: Always try to support a part of your hands or arms at the welding table and move the gun with your wrists. This technique is perfect for smaller objects when you want precision. Big thanks Beth!!!

When you're welding, it should sound like bacon cooking if all the settings are good. Take your time. Good welds should look like a row of nickels.

Tips: your stove is a great place to plug in if you can cause it has a 20amp fuse. If using an extension lead, make sure you unwind it completely... under no circumstances leave it in a coil or it will create a big electromagnet and heat up, risking melting together and shorting out. Your welds look pretty good for a newbie, they would be even better if you used gas. That's what its all about, chasing your dreams. Welding only gets better with practice so visit your neighborhood engineering company's scrap bins or buying good metal will get expensive fast... they throw out stuff that is too short and usually don't mind people scavenging as it is only worth around 3-4c per kg as scrap 👍 When you start on the tubing (chopper) fitment is your friend! Spend more time making sure you have no gaps and your welding will go much easier as gaps close on cooling causing warpage.

Good job to both of you! A couple things that might help. Look for mig welding gloves, they're a little more form-fitting but still insulated. Pull for flux-core, push for mig. Position self for your material so that you can always see your puddle. And for a stronger cleaner weld, grind off the mill scale. Good luck. Stay safe. And practice, practice, practice.

You go, girl. It's very adorable of you to pick up a new skill. After a couple of days of you welding and having a couple of projects done, go back and watch this video, and you will learn more from teaching yourself. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see some of your projects.

Great job Beth and Jeffrey, and kudos for jumping in and just doing it! Regarding the power and the circuit tripping, that welder needs a 20-amp circuit so that's the first thing I would check. You can easily check the circuit breaker panel and see what size circuit breaker is feeding the outlets you're using for the welder. If it's only a 15-amp breaker then you need to either upgrade the circuit or find another one that is already 20 amps. Great content nonetheless and thanks for sharing! Rock on!

Keep at it Beth! I do welding for a living. They have nozzles for flux core welding as well. You definitely want to drag when doing flux core...where there is slag, you drag.

It's cool to watch a new welder being born. It is the best thing when you need to get away from the world and meditate. The humm aligns your Chakra... or something like that

Beth, get a welding jacket, or wear a long sleeve cotton shirt, cotton don't burn or melt, it just smolders if sparks hit it. And those gloves look way to big for your hands, they should fit snug, just like your bike gloves.

Goos start, just takes time to get the flow. Would definitely suggest smaller gloves. And im nit sure if yours are insulated or not but i personally prefer the non insulated i find i have a better feel on the gun. And a quenching bucket is a handy little tool for when making smaller projects so u can cool them down quickly and not worry about burning your hands. Great video tho!

My guess with the electric issue was the air conditioner and the welder was taxing out the circuit. Might want to turn off the a/c while welding, along with any lights or fans in the house. Temporarily unplug the fridge also. 🤔😎

I didn't want to be that guy, always wear your safety glasses! There is nothing like the feeling of hot slag melted to your eye. Flash is no fun either. You will need a dedicated breaker for your power supply to the machine. Multi process machines typically have a lower duty cycle too. Great start for a beginner.

actually I had a welding education, and in our study group we hade a couple of girls, they highly unlikely become a welders, but all of them had a welding (MMA) practice. BTW, wire with internal flux is much easier.

not a single person here is going to tell you the hard truth, including the bozos who claim to be professional welders. welding is dangerous, it's a learned skill that you should take a class for. Just about every single community college around offers welding classes, and you should consider taking one. You should doubly consider it, since in another video you claim to want to weld a hard tail chopper frame. Big yikes. also RIP to your cameras since the arc from welding ruins camera CCD chips
@BikerBabeBeth
@BikerBabeBeth Жыл бұрын
Not to worry. No need to say RIP to my camera. I used an old Go Pro…. I am WELL aware of the dangers. My game plan is to get TONS more practice before any weld are done on a motorcycle…. Not really any hard truths being told…… 😅
