I'm a Filipino and the Pepsi incident is a big news in our country. Basically, the number 349 had been printed on up to 800,000 bottle caps. That number of claims could not be supported. Claims from almost 500,000 cap-holders were received. Instead of paying out 1 million Philippine pesos to each winner the company decided to pay out around 1,000 Philippine pesos.

Ok sorry to be a bummer but the Pepsi contest in the Philippines wasn’t because 349 was a winning number, 349 was actually a losing number and the manufactures could use this number and print it on a cap for how many times they want but a computer glitch the number “349” to be a winning number and millions of filipinos got that number, and soon Pepsi realized this and they offered to give them only 15 pesos which was nothing compared to the 1 million pesos they promised, some of these filipinos accepted the computer glitch and only got 15 pesos, but most of the filipinos started a boycott and their group name was called “349” and they came to the Pepsi headquarters in Philippines and start a riot killing 5 people in the process, but in 2006 I think, Pepsi was found not guilty and only had to pay 2 million dollars in damage
