Slapshock was a multi-platinum awarded Filipino heavy metal band. They were formed in 1997, originally as a nu metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. They later shifted towards a metalcore style.

"Cariño Brutal" is a Filipino (bit Spanish-influenced) term that means "brutal love". The Slapshock track is a love song with some pain and frustration in it. Thanks for reacting to this musical masterpiece. Sharing some from Slapshock's background: the band, originally a nu-metal/rap metal band (mostly compared to Korn) then later shifted to an alternative metal and metalcore sound. They are one of the country's few highest-selling metal bands (since most of the bands selling out here big time are under 'plain' rock, alternative rock and pop rock). Sadly, vocalist Jamir Garcia took his own life in November 2020 and Slapshock members were left in a blank state, half of them form another band called Chelsea Alley. ... You can also check out Queso and Greyhoundz- those are Slapshock's associated acts and real-life friends- those three are hailed as "Three Kings of Filipino slam" since they are also known for headlining multiple events of the annual music festival called PULP Summer Slam.
