Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZbin channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

What’s changed with KZbin’s copyright rules? Noticed a lot of creators are using official songs now, like Grants long intros for example

I was wondering the same thing. Even lots of small channels who don't get crazy amounts of views now use copyrighted music. And I was left thinking that the small amount of money they make on views would have to go towards using these songs. But maybe it doesn't work like that.

IIRC certain companies which hold the copyright have decreased the amount they require. Some of them are now taking a % of the money earned in a video rather than a straight up payment which makes it a lot cheaper but in the long run should make the companies a lot more money on videos.

It’s not that complicated anymore. There’s a company called ‘Lickd’ that lets you buy copyrighted music licenses which are getting more popular now…. The cost is based on subscriber count hence why you see it with the smallest & biggest creators

I personally love using the three lines to line up my putts. I put my own lines on using a stencil from Amazon or Temu and a sharpie.

Agreed - I just add three black stripes to my Callaway Supersoft balls and I’m sorted. It definitely helps with alignment on the green and on the tee. It doesn’t distract me for other shots.

Agreed - I use the middle line of the ball to line up with the alignment (dot or line ) on my putter and the outer two lines of the ball to line up with the path or line to the hole.

I found one of those fluorescent matte red Callaway Supersoft balls. I tried it and when I look down on it I can't see any dimples. I thought that was really distracting.

There's also the fact that if you float a golf ball in water, you can check the balance of the ball and mark the stripes accordingly...I'm not nearly good enough to have it make a difference but I imagine it could for really good golfers.

I’m a big ran of Callaway triple track, it is on the edge of being a distraction on non putting shots. I find the TM belt of color around the entire ball really distracting. Personal preference but this seems a happy mod point between obnoxious and useful.

Honestly my favorite line on any ball is the thick line on the Callaway Supersoft. It’s a “budget ball” but it performs well, and the thick line gives me confidence and feels easier to line up than, for example, the tiny arrow things on a prov1

It IS a game changer! At $5 a ball ($60 a dozen), the game has (again) gotten more expensive! If the stripes keep the ball out of the woods and out of the water, then yes!...worth it! :-)

i’ve been drawing my own “Triple Track” on the Srixon Z-Star, loving it. i do also like the stripe on the TM Tour Response, i wonder if they will come out with a white-striped Tour Response ball

This would of been better if you did a putting 'comp' between this and your gamer. Never the same putt but same distance though, so none had the advantage of going first. Count putts holed and measure misses. Just seems more objective given the context.

I'm a Tour Response Stripe user...the lower compression is better for my swing speed. I've never been bothered by the off-line line on the fairway but the coloured stripes do make the ball harder to find in the rough. Hopefully TM bring the white stripe out on the Tour Response

The price is crazy. I'd rather just get the regular TP5s and mark a line on them. A marked line gives the exact same feedback. Taylormade are messing with us.

I think that you should do videos of using other golf balls in your break 75 videos, just to see if maybe using a different ball helps you break 75. Instead of changing out clubs or starting at closer tees. Maybe just maybe using a different ball then your prov1 might make a difference or maybe it won't! be interesting to see how you perform though!

Rick, you're missing one extra thing when lining up the ball with the pin.... the width of the two lines on the ball, sits within the thickness of the putter shaft, so you line it up and then.. check it by lining your putter shaft up all the way to the hole, its a game changer 🔥

Well, some will like the stripes, some will not. Personally, they are not for me, I agree with those who find them distracting. To me the larger issue is the price, as the cost of so much new golf equipment is making this a rich man's sport. Thank goodness for DTC and the availability of good used clubs (and lower cost golf balls) that 98% of us can use.

I've never had a problem 'seeing the line' and don't like to use a line on the ball. I find lining up the ball up in the first place is subject to slight error, setting up and lining up to the line on the ball is also subject to slight error, so find any line on the ball distracting at best knowing that it's probbaly NOT lined up as accurately you think anyway. And as you idicate, if the line on the ball is at an angle it's very dsistracting. I just hope ALL the better ones don't end up with lines on them, not everyone wants them.

Many golfers are willing to pay a premium for a feeling of confidence. Top manufacturers know this. That said, I firmly believe if Nitro was the first to come out with 3 lines, people would have ridiculed it. If they had a patent on it, golf would have probably made it illegal.

Those stripes are absolutely terrible. I find them extremely distracting, especially from the fairway when the stripe is aiming away from my target line. Why, oh why, are ball makers so in love with these types of gimmicks??

Nothing appeals to absolutely everyone - but they’ve got a really good idea there, I certainly will try them - I didn’t like the block colour version, too much going on for the eyes, but that plain and simple version is very good

Not sure its because it was the yellow version, but when I tried TP5 the cover would get torn up after one wedge shot in the fairway. For the price i thought their durability was unacceptable so i never tried them again.

Normalize not looking at the ball when putting. You don’t look at the ball when you throw, or kick, or roll a ball normally. Let your instincts kick in and get the pace right as that even more important than line.

Rick, do a balance test on those balls. I always line up on the tee box the stripes, or lines, or logos just like you do for putts. I'm thinking that line represents the natural balance of the ball for straighter flight.

The colour tripe on their balls is awful for trying to find your ball, even in the fairway in poor light. This is way better. Anyone that doesn't want to simplify putting is out of their mind. why wouldn't you want to use a line to line up then just hit a straight putt down that line. gives immediate feedback too. I play a TP5x so I will be getting this ball when I run out

Apparently this was done because of Dustin Johnson. He liked the wide stripe on the Tour Response, but didn’t like the color, so he asked them to do the same thing without the color.
