He probably thought he was clever by turtling in until he can form an instant max out army, but he doesn't realize that doesn't work in high level play since most top players can crush it by just adapting to what you amassed, and like Grubby said, you can basically start mining from everywhere on the map while they are busy turtling up in their own base. That rage quit at the end.

I view upkeep as a "snowball speed bump" mechanic. The player that has the economy to max out first has to delay that or decide on an all-in push that ruins their economic lead, giving the player on the backfoot options to work their way out of the slump

Again it was hard cause he did things he didn't need to do like losing the blade in a fight that shouldn't have happened, or building demolisher into a hard counter. The guys strategy essentially wastes resources in the hopes that their enemy will attack. So all the power is in your hands you have a stronger map presence meaning you can do anything and he cant say no at all.

Re: upkeep. I agree with you that it is an interesting mechanic and adds a lot of depth to WC3 (and helps further differentiate it from SC). However, it is a very beginner-unfriendly feature. Bronze leaguers seem to have a ton of difficulty playing with it, and we frequently see our bronze league heroes sitting at 51 pop for extended periods of time. I wonder if there could be some more urgent way of communicating the huge economic losses to the player besides the current "Low Upkeep" notification

I’d love to see toggles on the town halls for “no limit” / “limit to low” / “limit to none” that’d prevent new unit trains like being over supply does. I feel like it could be implemented in current wc3, and would allow beginners to continue building burrows beyond their current supply tier as well as stacking trains in buildings, both of which I tend to do, but which I can’t do at the same time. I think it wouldn’t be a real advantage for anyone at mid level or higher and would make it easier for noobs to prepare for supply pushes more effectively and easier to maintain armies at those smaller sizes

They do have the increased armor yes. And I'm pretty sure cloak of flames also gives them the damage aura, but I don't know for sure. I know lightning shield on mirror images works normally so cloak should also work

Not a true turtle, just a valid strat: "Don't lose to Tier 1 rush; don't lose because your opponent got two level 3 heroes a minute earlier than you; don't lose to Tier 2 timing push; just make an endgame Tier 3 army that the opponent isn't prepared for because he spent all his gold and filled most of his supply with a mid-game army." If he would've attacked Grubby's undefended main instead of going after useless expansions he would've won. He had Grubby's army defeated, but he didn't go after Grubby's tech and production.

I've occasionally encountered turtles in SC2 when I used to play taht $hit game and as a zerg player I respond the exact same way as grubby here! I immediately double expand and if they continue to forfeit map control than I take all the bases and tower them up and get mega rich and make whatever da fuk I want for my maxed out army!!!!! It's always easy and fun this way!!!!!!

Math doesn’t check out unless you are referencing just the scenario of having 3 gold mines. If you drop 10 gold per second that’s only a loss of 60 gold per minute. You also said you drop from 600 gold per minute to 420 gold per minute which is 180 gold per minute difference.

"Its easy" No its not. Orcs harrass need a lot of apm to deal with. And turtle + harrass while building a powerfull army is a guarantee win at low levels. If he kept pushing after the first 2 fights that you lost your BM and peons, he would have won.

Well korean player is funny and can irritate you by canceling your expansions with towers zeppelins but every player would do that. Turtling is just fine and accept is as a late game fight with most expensive units.
