Actually the quest 2 doesn't use the full resolution specified because there's pixels that aren't used because the lenses shift around a single display. Quest pro has individual displays so they always use the full resolution for each eye.

I didn't have a VR headset until just before this last Christmas and got a Quest2 (Resident Evil pack) and loved it - but had some issues with tracking. When the Quest Pro controllers became available I got those and it was such a step up ..... but then a Quest Pro came available to me secondhand. And that was the best tech I think I've ever bought. I think I've used the Q2 maybe twice since having the Quest Pro - and even ended up buying a new desk with a bit more space so that I could do exactly like you, have it there 'always on' and I'll just grab it when I fancy a quick bit of standalone gameplay or just some more immersive youtube. Setting up my desk in VR and paired with the colour passthrough and logitech mx keys keyboard, well I don't think I'm very far away from wanting to work 'inside' the headset - just waiting on the Microsoft Teams (and maybe office) integration

As a glass's wearer, the pro is a game changer for me. I have prescription lenses in my quest 2 but being able to just put the pro on and off without faffing with my glasses is so much easier. Definitely a luxury as the price is silly expensive, even with the recent price drop.

LOL. I bought one just to test and then return to Best Buy, but got hooked. Far better than my Q2 and the P4. The visuals are IMO far better than the P4 and the resolution is not that different, due to the LCD design on the QP. What is very different in favor of the QP is the clarity, contrast and color. For $1,500 never would have bought it even to try. Now I don't want to return it.

Yes, I am the same way, I paid full price at the beginning (US$1500), but I have not regretted getting one and I cannot go back to my Quest 2 anymore. For the Pro controller, there has been some issue with playing sniper rifle in the VR game such as Onward. However after recent firmware updates for the pro controller, it has been working as good as Quest 2 controller as far as the steadiness. I believe the Quest Pro wifi 6e has not been fully enabled yet but the connection speed to my wifi 6 router is much faster than my Quest 2. My Quest Pro connection is at 1920Mbit/s for both send and receive solid all time with my NetGear Wifi6 router where my Quest 2 is capped at 1200Mbit/s. I set my Virtual Desktop data streaming bit rate at 150Mbit/s max and PC gaming looks so sharp and wonderful!!

Hi. I'm in a similar situation as you - got Quest Pro one month after release at about 2k eur and used it ever since as a main headset (had both Quest & Quest 2 before). I love it for the most part. Can't say I hadn't any issues with it - got the first weird UI hang and had to reboot literally 5 minutes after I booted it up for the first time. It's mostly nice though. I do hope they'll migrate to something other than Android at some point or fix the system software in some way - background service still can crash after long periods of inactivity, it often reboots on its on while charging on a dock - but still, there's a lot of good. Used it daily for some time, stopped using for about a month lately and getting back now. Was hella impressed with the whole "The Worlds Beyond" demo with portals in my living room. A bit disappointed it can't automap my room like iPhone can / pull the data from it via some middleware so that I don't have to do it manually. And disappointed again when I couldn't find much stuff to do with Quest specific features (there's hardly any apps where passthrough actually did something experimental & new, not just replaced often prettier 3D backgrounds) - I guess, we'll have to wait and see (or go and do). But yeah, charging dock is a big thing. And it's thinness & build quality too, ofc. Hadn't noticed much difference in screens tbo - had even tried to compare it side by side with Quest 2. I'm also waiting for some 3rd party mods to appear to make it a bit comfy and looking forward to doing something with PCVR. Have some hard times ironing out the performance for now tho, will get to it at some point. Oh, and VR demo scenes are awesome, even if they are not many of them. And AR videos are starting to appear, those promise to be fun, like holograms, finally.

Love my Quest Pro, so much better then the Quest 2. Lenses and picture clarity is so much better. I was surprised to find I do not need the full light blocker. The side blockers work fine and having a little open space at the bottom is nice. Kind of gives a more FOV feeling and allows air to circulate on your face. I sewed an elastic strap vertically across the top and it made the headset very comfortable. Far more then the Quest 2. I also like that it is Black and looks very nice compared to the ugly cheap looking white finish on the Quest 2.

Agreed, love my Pro…even sold my Aero and just use the Pro for wireless PCVR. You really need a decent GPU (3080 or better) to really see what the Pro hardware can do. The stand alone experience is a bit of a let down in comparison but the PCVR wows with the clarity. Also agree I have found I can be fully immersed in VR even with no light blockers at all…this is how I play 100% of the time now which was unexpected!

Quest Pro Is amazing to use. Indeed the Only gripe I have is that its Comfort is not great for prolonged sessions. However like yourself I have really enjoyed the Open front fo the pro. I don't use the light blockers and I have no plans to get the facial interface. I really like still being connected to the room I'm in from checking your phone to vaping to grabbing a drink. All easy to do with out taking the HMD off or even activating a passthrough. I will still be getting the Q3 but ill be really sad to go back to a skimask style HMD I think HMDS doing forward should give you the option like the pro of how "Enclosed" you want to be. Also the controllers are amazing. Yes they can have a "wake up" time but they just work flawlessly. All the issues with IR tracked controllers are gone like aiming down sights or reaching behind etc "Though some games like the walking dead that have over the shoulder actually like to activate from the front on the pro. I keep going for my flashlight and get the backpack for example." I do hope that Future headsets will have pro like controllers or that I can Move my Pro controllers with me with future HMDS do not want to go back to IR tracked controllers.

Because from when I start using this I do prefer way more airlink... it looks like VD is not very optimized for it (I am on the Discord QP channel and other ppl have problem with VD). about the top strap I can absolutely recommend the StudioForm strap, it push the level of comfort in a completely new level without loosing the way to wear it that is kind of important for me as well

My Pico 4 has worked flawlessly for almost three months now. No fuss at all to start using it. To play PCVR I just turn on the PC, turn on the Pico and start the VD-app in the Pico and I'm ready to start any game. I have a BoboVR battery so charging and battery swap is super easy. The AMVR facial interface made them super comfortable and I can have them on for hours if I want to without issue. I recommend this. Game changer! I don't store my headset on my desk but hang them on the wall on a curved wall mount with the front up and lenses covered by the mount to protect the lenses from dust and accidental contact with anything.

Eye tracking on the QP is still missing some essential features. After testing PSVR2 at a friend's place and experiencing eyetracked menus and eyetracked foveated rendering, those two are way bigger game changers than just tracking for Social VR apps. I know Boz and Carmack have given statements that eyetracked foveated rendering on stand-alone isn't worth the needed power and wouldn't achieve a net positive yet (uses more power up front that doesn't result in better quality over all), but when you connect it to a PC and when they get the latency down enough you could experience better quality like you would have upgraded to a new GPU, making lower end ones way more viable and opening up the PCVR market for more people. Meta should just revive and push their existing Rift platform so they can stop whining about not profiting on PCVR Quest users (like Carmack revealed during the last Connect - already missing this guy's no bullshit answers and openness to the public).

I sent mine back due to the floating controllers, short battery life and limited FOV. Although, the displays are awesome. I'm currently waiting on the vive xr elite. Not to mention the lack of updates, the passthrough leave a lot to be desired.

8:55 im just waiting for something that's slim, uses inside out tracking, and doesnt have to be charged, but instead just uses power from my PC. That would be absolutely perfect for me. I mean heck ill take something bulky. Maybe that pimax crystal. But id prefer using the quest pro controllers still, which would be a bummer if I couldnt.

I'm fine with the Pico 3 Link. Also still use my OG Quest for its games and to let it not go to waste for no reason as it's still fine as PCVR headset. Can't deny tho that the features the Pro comes me make me drool.

Been thinking of getting one seen a few go for as low as £500 on ebay but you can easily pic one up for between £600-£750 now.

Loved this headset so much but still couldn't justify the price.....had to return it after 3 months (Thanks Amazon). They wasted resources on the face and eye tracking too early because they quite literally don't utilize it in anything..... Eye tracked foveated rendering could at least be implemented globally to boost performance and resolution across the board. After the gimmick of using one time in Horizon worlds there's nothing to do.....Would have gladly paid 600 for just these lenses and everything else tho (AKA QUEST 3

I'm kind of on the edge of buying one, I'm looking for an upgrade from my valve index that has face and eye tracking, the deal breaker honestly is whether this would work with my fbt setup

Depends, it will you aren't using the older 1.0 trackers and basestations (they interfere with oculus camera methods due to the lights, will have moments of the hip tracker flying away) 2.0 fbt tracking will work without issues in combination with face/eyetracking

Do you guys think the psvr 2 is worth it? Is it worth getting the PS5? I don't have a gaming PC and want the best possible VR experience. I have the Xbox X and quest 2.

PSVR 2 rocks for games, but not very good for movies and media, since the hide the screen door effect from the OLED display with an optical film. This cause just enough blur to mask the screen door, but IMO games looks fine. IMO a lower cost investment for gaming but since you already have a Q2, you could get a good PC for the same total cost. Just depends on the games you like.

Of course you dont use link, because there are almost no games that run without microstuttering with it.. virtual desktop is the only option for most pcvr games..
