I'm scared but I'm honestly kind of excited too. The hardest part of writing a song is always finding a catchy melody, a cohesive chord progression, and a good hook. I hope before it completely takes over, I'll be able to get a few good years out of it by using it as a way to generate a bunch of stuff to flesh out. I spend an ungodly amount of time sitting at a piano or strumming my guitar with nothing to show for it.

I think this is only true to a limited extent but you kinda want a decent understanding of how these things work in order to generate things that stand out in the sea of spam. Also not sure what Suno is capable of but for example if the second half of the song sucks and you can't like edit it or re-generate it (or to go a step further the datasets) then I'm not sure how useful it's gonna be even for amateur music production. Maybe it is, no idea. It's just a matter of time but music is so complicated it might be a while

What's so amazing to me is that the irony of "red white and blue driving down the street with my truck my beer and my Putin tattoo" is completely lost on the AI that made it. It has no idea that it just set up a classic American song only to subvert it by saying Putin tattoo it just put stuff together the way people would and it got pure comedy somehow

@@boop because AI doesn't understand comedy, it understands what people say when they are trying to be comedic but it doesn't understand the undertones involved in making a joke. Right here what it pulled was "mention a country's flag, mention driving a truck, mention a patriotic tattoo for the country of reference." It didn't know that it set it up as an American song only to deliver the Putin tattoo line as a gut punch before diving into a full patriotic song about Putin. The biggest factor of this that is incredibly lucky is both countries having red white and blue flags. if He had said to make this song about India we wouldn't have the irony that we have present here.

Perhaps a lot of subtlety is lost for a lot of AI models these days, but nothing suggests that this is an obstacle that cannot be surmounted one day, or that some models are not better than others.

But it cannot create it can reuse and reimagine but never create. Ai currently is a Cook, it makes food. True AI would be a Chef, it makes recipes. True creation is required to understand comedy, it currently sees comedy as math this part goes here this part goes here equals good reaction but to consistently make a Good layered joke like what happened here you need to be able to consciously understand The topics that you're using.

As a musician this doesn't really change much except now people actually know what the modern music making process looks like. Except instead of a committee of guys trying to piece together stock drum tracks, with company approved lyrics, and a pitch adjusted melody so that everything is in perfect sync and mathematically quantized, regular people get to ask an AI to do it for them. At the very least the subject matter of songs will be a lot more varied and hopefully comical.
