Today, we are coin roll hunting a $500 box of quarters in search of rare, valuable, and interesting coins that we can use to fill in our collection books! With multiple 2019 and 2020 quarters right on the ends of the rolls, this box was intriguing right off the get-go. Tons of chances for the elusive West Point quarter plus other error coins were all on my mind! But nothing could have prepared me for what ended up coming out of one of these rolls. 11:22 - The 'silver' Bicentennial Quarter Dollars were actually 'silver clad' with net silver content of 40%. They were packaged together in sets with one each of 'silver clad' Dollar, Half, and Quarter Dollar. They were the only quarters coined on silver clad planchets as had previously been used on all Half Dollars dated 1965 through 1970 and on specially packaged 'S' mint Eisenhower Dollars minted 1971 through 1974.

I have that Bicentennial Silver mint set myself. There's something about those Bicentennial Silver & Clad issues, they're attractive designs. I recently bought a couple of extra UNC Bicentennial Silver quarters just to have and include in my "20th Century Types" album. I just completed a BU set of Franklin's...that was a labor of love !

Never have I found silver in these boxes, but last one I opened had 3 w's. Also opened another box of the type with holes on the bottom. Found another 3 w's, a s in great condition, and 4 painted quarter.

I've only found 2 Ag quarters, 1943-D and 1953-D, during my 1st year of searching, and they were 3 months apart. Still, its a thrill.

Great video. The business strike clad ones have a lower mintage than the "W". I have found a few but wanted those as well in the collection. Now I get a subscription for all the clad uncirculated quarters P,D,S since the first of the America the Beautiful.

So that green quarter you found on rook two was a jukebox priming quarter so what they would do is they would put a quarter into the jukebox so they could get it going so other people would put more quarters in and the green ones or the painted ones would be the ones that they would put back in the jar for priming The jukebox so they color them so that they didn’t use those quarters to buy anything they were for priming. El Yunque is the only NP quarters I don't have either mint. I just recently found a P-Chaco Culture. 2012 is differently the rare ones to get, I only have one each of the others NP's. I do have the 2012 Silver Proof set.

S-minted business strike quarters is something that the mint started with the America the Beautiful (aka National Park) series, though not until 2012 (skipping the first two years of the ATB series), starting with the El Yunque quarter for Puerto Rico. These were sold in bags and rolls straight from the Mint, and were not intended for circulation, so any you find in rolls is something someone spent out of the mint rolls and bags. They continued this up through to the 2021 Tuskegee Airman quarter for Alabama. The 2021 Crossing the Delaware quarter never got a S-minted business strike version, but in 2022 they resumed the S-minted business strikes for the American Women series, starting with Mary Angelou. That clad proof bicentennial you found had to have come out of either a 1975 or a 1976 proof set.

The El Yunque is the hardest to find design in my area. I don't actively hunt quarters outside of a roll or two per week, but I can't recall the last time I've seen one in circulation. Not in rolls, change, anything of the sort. Outside of the one in my album and one I found in my old lego bins a few months back, they're gone

Where are you located at somewhat in the United States? I'm located in Pennsylvania and I'm going to start looking for These quarters you speak of, I've been basically looking for anything in quarters to start collecting. And this quarter seems perfect for me, I'm also going to begin going through a lot of rolls. So here in the next month or 2 is gonna be pretty much. I've just been able to get boxes of quarters and halves, from my Credit Union. I'm being charged $25/box surcharge. Sometimes it pays for itself. Last week, I pulled a 1945-D VF+ Walker, from only my 5th/10 rolls. I'll be getting my first box, in week. I know, all to well, one can go through the whole box, without any Ag. The Varieties and NIFC's keep me searching Halves. Lol, I've had to reorder .25 rolling flat coin tubes.

Check your 2012-present quarters for the S mint mark. America the Beautiful and American Women have business strike S coins.

I've finished both circulated Statehood and ATB PD sets. It was a ton of fun. I've since moved into putting together an uncirculated AWQ PDS set. I'm on track and awaiting the uncirculated 2024s to make an appearance. In the meantime, I'm concentrating on Benjis and pre-65 Washington quarters l.

To get technical, you could melt a Canadian penny (1978) being copper it would have you down 23 cents instead of 24😊

I found 4 W mintmark quarters but the funny thing is that 3 of them i got out of a quarter machine at the laundry mat. Also i wanted to ask if you flip your coins to check for die rotation errors. I found a 1987 quarter that is almost completely 180 degrees out of rotation, its about 175 degrees out

That’s right- in most cases, if a bank is willing to sell one to you, it will be face value. Sometimes there is a fee, maybe $5-$10, but I haven’t personally seen that

No place I know of taxes trading money for the same amount of money. Some banks might charge a fee though. Bank I got boxes from doesn't charge anything over face value, if it's a box they already had and didn't have to special order for you. Had a bank that would special order half dollar boxes for me and not even charge anything over face value for it. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience banks will usually give you coins for face value, especially if you have an account there.

Nickels and dimes especially have lower mintages in 2009 than in 2008 or 2010. In the future they may even be considered semi-key dates. Pennies and quarters are a bit lower mintages too, but not to the same degree, as people were still collecting the 4 different penny designs and 6 different quarter designs that year. Still, probably worth setting aside.

Hello! I do not have a placemat specifically for quarters alone. Instead, I have a “silver stacking” placemat which covers dimes, quarters, and half dollars. That is the one that I am using in this video. I hope that helps!
