‼️EDITS & LINKS‼️ Note 1: I accidentally say 2022, instead of 2020 when I’m talking about the Paeonia era. Takara end Minji joined in March of 2020, and they comeback in 2020! So sorry for this confusion. My dumbass just misspoke Note 2:In the start of the video I say that no comeback had the same lineup, but Futt and Tropical Romance did have the same lineup, however ORIGINALLY as we see in the statement, MinMin was supposed to be in Futt and was replaced last minute LINK TO MY THREAD Feel free to share, post for yourself and so on: x.com/jihoons_carat/status/1766155707512955322?s=46

I mean, most groups who have minor members are (lets be really honest here), it's just more obvious with these girls because they kept debuting younger and younger members (basically at the age where they would be the oldest in those equally questionable 'kid' groups) each time one of the members left or went on hiatus or something, made even worse by the implied 'she got too old' at like... 18-ish? Why is that suddenly old for anyone but the you know who's??? Either way, it's disgusting that they seem to believe that they can't make it without the money of those 'people' if you can even call them that.

I followed Chaeyeon from Busters to TripleS, so I had totally lost eyes on Busters. I feel really bad, honestly. This is a good example of why the Korean government should step in with laws for age-appropriate entertainment. The companies dont care because they know theyre feeding into fetishes, and its okay as long as they arent just outright saying it. Someone else has to step in, but im scared that unfortunately something more sinister will have to occur for the government to step in.

Idk what's with this saving nugu groups narrative. This group is terribly managed, has had many lineup changes and the music isn't anything great too. I don't know what we need to save here so desperately, potential or not. Get the girls out of there (they seem to have good chances in other groups), shut down the whole operation and never bring up that group ever again. Some things are better forgotten. And I don't mean to be rude bc I get how fans can get attached to a group but at what cost? Sometimes I think kpop fans can't seem to get over their own need for a group even if it hurts the members. A lot of groups would benefit from a good old boycott, only then the industry changes. But no, we have to make sure that the members don't lose their shitty and abusive career bc...it's their dream? Idk we act so progressive but nothing has changed.

This is horrifying. I'm almost embarrassed to say I used to like Busters and had some of their MVs on my playlists because I liked the music, the MVs themselves seemed harmless, and I just naively assumed the members were late teens to early 20s. Learning they were as young as TWELVE puts those seemingly cute outfits and dances in a different light, and that's before you get to any of this stuff with the soft-porn style photoshoots, inappropriate outfits etc. I should really be checking ages and so on, but when there are 100s of groups I tend to be a very casual consumer and forget that the kpop industry has no goddamn standards. That video with a bunch of men going feral as these young teenagers announce their ages sent chills down my spine. These are the exact same kind of guys who are talking about "what they want to do" to girls like this, and for all we know some of them actually are abusing children/teens in real life. Them all gathered in a mob, barely contained, screaming at these girls who are instructed to smile and thank them... it's just terrifying. It's not only Busters, it shows something about an entire culture of misogyny and sexualisation of minors (I don't mean all of Korean culture, I mean specifically idol culture). It's easy to follow these groups in a genuinely innocent casual way, just watching a few fun MVs, and forget what's really going on off-screen. This was a needed wakeup call. I've been a kpop fan for a long time, I grew up with kpop, and I used to view it in a very innocent way... but with scandal after scandal I'm at the point where I think I'll mostly withdraw my support. It doesn't feel right to be promoting an industry with standards like this. There are a few older artists I'll keep up with, and I'm not saying I will boycott all new Korean artists, but I'll be checking ages carefully, and I'll only stick with groups where I have the time to research thoroughly and make sure they seem to be treated fairly and marketed appropriately. It sucks because I used to support a lot of nugu groups back in the day, but I just don't have time to be vetting every artist like this, and I don't want to support abuse so I will have to stay away. The reason I used to like nugu groups is that you have these young people (hopefully 18+) who seem very passionate, often quite talented, and it feels like "they deserve to follow their dreams! They deserve support!" I HATE that in reality these shitty abusive companies are often the only venue where passionate, talented young people can get an opportunity to perform. I wish there was a better more regulated industry, with high standards of safety, so that we could all support young artists with a clear conscience, knowing they're being given the opportunity to follow their dreams in a safe way. But that's not the world we live in.

Hopefully it will at the very least help a few more people wake up and get informed! (sorry I ended up going on another rant but this just really gets to me) It's so ridiculous that most of the people leading this conversation are girls/young women themselves, who should be the target audience, and were following these groups in a genuinely innocent way. It's outrageous that young girl fans also have to be exposed to this stuff, forcing them to grow up too quickly along with their idols. They have to become aware of these darker patterns underneath a cute image, and then they have to shout and campaign to try to get anyone to take it seriously, while grown adults continue profiting off this whole mess, or just dismiss it like it's no big deal or "oh that's just how it is, it'll never change." Well it can change. I don't know exactly how, but I know there are technically some legal changes in Korea over the last few years as a result of fan/media pressure, it's just not nearly enough. People need to keep pushing, and they need to keep actually standing up for their values instead of going "oh well, it's just for fun, it's just a guilty pleasure." If enough people protest and boycott and get these issues picked up by the media, hopefully we can push the industry bit by bit into changing, even if the only way to do that is by publicly embarrassing them into changing. Another frustrating thing is that there are actually good aspects of kpop, and I would ~like~ to be able to promote those good things, but I feel I can't because of this kind of crap. It frustrates me how Western media gets SO focused on the 'dark side of kpop' narrative that they end up dehumanizing idols, claiming that every single kpop star is a controlled abused puppet, interchangeable robots with a ton of plastic surgery, and none of them write their own music or have any artistic merit or any freedom etc. And this is done in a way that often ends up being genuinely racist and/or xenophobic. So I want to push back against that narrative and stand up for Koreans who are either making art, or just want to perform fun music like any other nationality....... but then there really *is* a dark side of kpop, and I can't ignore that. There's a dark side of the Western industry too, of course. But it seems like it's impossible to have a nuanced conversation with most people about how there are good and bad aspects to every industry and every culture, and that doesn't mean none of these artists should be given a chance. And cases like this make that conversation so much harder.

One thing that makes me so incredibly mad about this situation is because they are a smaller group, there aren't enough eyes on them to call this out. This video is good at compiling everything wrong with their company, so thank you for that. Now, about the sexualization; it doesn't shock me that the company doesn't care because Hybe, the biggest company in the industry also does shit like this. NewJeans as a whole has issues with this, I constantly see grown men listening to them, but I KNOW it is not about the music. I see them calling Haerin and Hyein pretty and attractive and it's disgusting. I see comments like "Real men stan (insert girl group)" but I, as a woman, hate praising this because most of these men are actually creepy, are responsible for oversexualization, and are feeding into the stuff we're discussing here. When I hear a crowd at a performance of a girl group being mostly men, it makes my skin crawl. Because I know what men are like. Like these men flock to girl groups with minors. I see shit like it under LE SSERAFIM's stuff too. Especially with the choreos they are given (especially lately) that have inappropriate moves included. Smart is definitely the worst, and the most recent. Eunchae is a minor, and while the other 4 girls aren't, they originally had an issue with this even in Fearless. They had to change the choreo. And then I'LL-IT. Oh my god where should I start. The reason a that minors were so sexualized on that show, one was rigged into first, and the grown women who brought ao much talent (and should have all debuted) was because of incel p*do men on Reddit bashing them. They mass voted for 2 minors because they are creeps. You had to be 18 or older to go to the live performances for the show, when half the contestants weren't even 18. And Hybe has literally done nothing to protect them because they don't care. This is a few of many examples, but the reason that small companies get away with it is because even the biggest ones do too. It's always "you all are weird for making it sexual" or "it's just a dance, concept, etc." It is so hard. All this to say, thank you for making this video. I am glad someone with a decent platform is saying something. Honestly, the group needs help and protection. I hate this shit so much and wish it wouldn't happen but unfortunately so many executives in Kpop are creepy.

i was the owner of what was the biggest update account for busters and i fought all the time to bring attention to what the girls were going through, but the only thing i managed to get non-nugu fan eyes on was the incident where chaeyeon was hit by a coworker because people are so used to the sexualization of minors that it's just not "entertaining" enough for people to boost, but physical assault on a child by an adult? yeah, people talked about that one after i translated the info about it. id even have frequent contact with monstergram/marbling and busters manager(s) where id bring up concerns of their treatment, yeseo's stalkers, the sexualized photoshoots, etc, and their management would just brush it off or tell me that i simply didnt understand the situation. it made me so mad.... and ive been into kpop since 2008 and im familiar with minors debuting even way back then, but nowadays its not one or two members are minors, it's entire groups are minors and rarely is there ever an adult debuted straight away. so im sitting here just watching what ive already seen happen time and time again but it feels significantly worse because theres just SO many minors and theyre being sexualized even worse than before and it's just so overwhelming and it feels like theres no amount of protesting that will change things... or at least, kpop fans arent willing to protest the way they should. if people stopped supporting groups of minors entirely EVEN if you think their music is good, then maybe itd start leaving a message. but nobody is willing to do that (cough cough look at newjeans, who literally debuted with a track explicitly about eating someone out and whose being run by a freakzoid borderline pdf file herself) so it seems like nothing will change. but you're right! videos like these from people with sizeable platforms speaking out about this stuff will absolutely bring more eyes to these worries and justtttt maybe one day we'll see a change start to shift...

And then there is new jeans with their creepy ceo and that song cookie I couldn't even fully listen to it. Also the whole bam bam situation and then there where so many fans defending him, just disgusted me. I lost the respect I had for this man. I saw Smart and it was an ok song and in general the vibe fits for them but I couldn't stop thinking about the sexy concept groups of the 2nd and 3rd gen. I got into kpop later but I saw a few of the popular mv with the short shorts and mainly focus on, well, the booty. Actually my ults Dreamcatcher started out as a cutesy group with a questionable concept and two minors and have called out that exact behaviour. They're one of the only ones that grew past that and criticised it. Anyway I've been seeing the outfits for Le Sserafim more and more critically, the only thing people seem to talk about is Kazuha's abs which is weird to begin with but all of them only get bralette tops now and short skirts. My point is kpop companies seem to wanna avoid the connection to their old groups but Smart was the first time where I thought "wow, this could've been a 3rd gen song with a weird mv". It's mainly booty shaking, the only difference is that they don't focus on that now. But I'm telling you, they'll go further. As soon as Eunchae turns 18, they'll probably do even more mature stuff. They're just testing the waters now and since no one cares they can continue. Look, without Eunchae they could even get away with it but no, we have do drag a minor into it. Kpop is still mainly about being pretty and thin, whoever thinks differently is delusional. Le Sserafim is actually a great example bc their vocal coach seems to actively make them worse, but I won't beat that dead horse.

@moongirl8807 the song is fine as far as i know, like the lyrics aren't inappropriate (correct me if i'm wrong) but the choreo is the problem. it's based on smth that shouldn't be sexualized but it is unfortunately so we need to be realistic when criticizing it. and they've also had "sexy" moves in other song like fearless (they changed some of them but) and also perfect night. like eunchae has never been safe because hybe doesn't care.

HOW is THAT appropriate for CHILDREN to see, but a dance by a female girl group is banned because they rub the side of their butts in the choreography? No wonder there's such a big problem with bullying in South Korea when physical violence is made to seem like a joke. It's not. What they did to him was literally Battery and Assault.🤬

I'm honestly surprised for how long this company has been able to just go on - getting support from both fans, employees and investors - and I'm especially concerned for how long parents have been sending their daughters to these companies willingly despite knowing it's reputation. All adults in this situation should held accountable and due to companies like these I personally stopped investing myself into nugu companies and nugu groups all together. If we don't send money or give attention to these sketchy companies, the sooner it will stop existing and just dissolve and the sooner these idols will be free. Boycotting IS effective. The problem is that sadly the main public audience in kpop isn't aware as they are too busy focusing on the same 10 trending groups atm. We should pay attention and support nugus, but for the right reasons and only from companies that seem legal and fair. I am absolutely appalled children are unsafe in this industry. I do support some groups that have minors in them, but they are definitely not 12 or 14. I always make sure there's at least an adult fellow member with with them at all times before consuming the group's music. Groups like busters and even similar young adult groups make it really hard for people to easily get into new groups as we all want to actively avoid supporting the exploitation of young idols in toxic environments. This is and MUST be a standard for all. Normalize calling out any kpop fans who are NSFW creepy about any idols. Minors or not. This is a music hobby. Not an adult industry. Thank you wholeheartedly for this video. I re-tweeted it on twitter. Bless.

I'm convinced 100 percent that there is no way to ethically have minors in a kpop group. Because there is a 100 percent chance that people will sexualize them simply because of the job. Companies who debut groups with minors know that they will be sexualized and do not care. Obviously, Marbling is taking full advantage of all of this and is clearly purposefully doing things to increase the horrible exposure. But I think every kpop company does this as well, just not as bad, but they know there is a specific audience that specifically wants a minor. It's generally creepy.

About how you can help: There is one weak point that every company fears - a total boycott. Don't share their videos, don't buy their albums (if available), photo cards, merch etc., stop streaming, don't go to concerts or fan meetings. Delete them completely from your memory. It all makes Marbling money. At the same time, bombard Marbling with emails and be loud on X, just like Orbits back then. It helped. I'm happy for Chaeyeon, that she has a good company now and 19 (23 soon) sisters ;) The future of Yeseo is uncertain but she will probably join Limelight together with Mashiro and two other trainees. I'm only sad for Hyungseo bc the lack of CLASS:y content. At least they have a normal contract (7 years).

I had no idea this group was still going. I remember checking them out when they originally debuted, but I was put off by their ages and decided not to support them. The people at Marbling absolutely know what they're doing. I feel like kpop fans sort of lose sight of the fact that agencies are not these abstract entities run by the magic of "industry practices". There are living breathing people at Marbling (most likely predominantly middle aged men) making the conscious decision to exploit minor girls for a chance at financial gain. Any agency that replaces members on such a regular basis has no affection or respect for those idols as people. They're entirely replaceable, even moreso than other idols. I hope the current members are able to get out of their contracts quickly and move on with their lives in a safer environment.

34:31 this makes me sad. Because she is a GREAT dancer. But a lot of companies (and fans lets be honest) convince kpop idols that Sexy = Good dancing. A lot of young trainees learn overtly sexual dances because they think those are the main technically good dances. You also see many main dancers in groups also are the "sexy" members. I wish this connection would stop, sexy doesn't mean technically good dancing. You can show dancing skills in many ways. Please don't be convinced that sexual dancing is the superior way to show skills. I see this thinking a lot from idol trainees who want to improve their dancing, they think sexual dances 'look cooler'. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sexy dancing, but minors shouldn't think it's the only way to prove they can dance to adults. The whole idea of that is creepy and we need to stop letting companies push this idea to children.

It is also worth to mention that the CEO of Marbling has a problematic past behind him SQR/SQUEAR/Lee Jun Kim (김이준) has previously produced for a few j-pop groups and has been the representative/producer for two self-established companies. The first company, 302:SKOOL was originally a soundtrack company which released songs for games such as R2Beat. In 2006, they announced that they will be debuting an 8-member girlgroup (two of the members are associated with MYDOLL, the company that has collaborated with Marbling). The group had a member-rotation system similar to what the japanese girlgroup Morning Musume does), meaning that the lineup changed with each comeback (In total they had 16 members, three of which debuted at 17, two at 14 and one at TWELVE. All ages are most likely in the korean aging system. The ages of 4 members are unknown to me). This has caused controversy even predebut, due to the similarity to the rotation system of the famous japanese girlgroup Morning Musume. What's worse is that the members were fans of the group, and SQR lied about it which fueled the fans' anger even more. The hate got so big that they ended up having more haters than fans. Even an "fancafe" was created specifically to harass the group. The anticafe is still available to find on the internet, but most posts are unavailable to read for non-members. In the public posts however, we can find one that says that the members are well aware of the cafe's existance and saying something about the home adresses of two of the members (one of them being the 14 year old ☹) Summarising, the young members had a big group of adults harrassing them and the company has done absolutely NOTHING to protect them. The second company was named Pandagram (which is similar to Marbling's previous name, Monstergram). In 2015, they debuted a girlgroup with a metal/rock concept, similar to babymetal. During the early stages of their career they had no controversies, until their last comeback. That is to say, they were given a n4zi concept. The armbands in their MV outfits resemble the ones that n4zi soldiers used to wear. SQR explained in an interview that "the thought [of the n4zi symbolism] never occurred" and that the arbands were meant to express the groups ambition and their desire “to expand without a limit in four directions". Even though the group was never known, the matter got so big that it caused the group to disband. Even to this day, the pictures from this era are used either as a meme by regular kpop stans (which I find increadibly weird) or by incel kpop fans in far-right communities. **[TRIGGER WARNING FOR THIS PART]** Allegedly, the members were s*xually ab*sed by the company, however I have not found sources on that. If that was true, then we can speculate that the n4zi concept was used to cover up the ab*se. Considering all of the above, I don't think Marbling will ever change. Of course, I'm not suggesting that we should stop trying to get them to do something, but the opposite. Let's all work hard and get the girls to leave that company !!!

I forgot to mention that one of the members of the first girlgroup dated an EXO member. I have no idea when that happened, but it definitely worsened the hate towards them. So basically they had 2 popular fandoms against them, and they still weren't protected by 302:skool at all ☹

I also think that we should start boycotting all of Busters' content, along with SQR's previous gg's

Thank you for this comment. Simone did mention they thought the groups were connected but when I tried to find information in English I didn’t find anything. I think this is just further proof! Any chance you can dm me on Twitter or IG, so i can ask you a bit more about the CEO?

I honestly don’t know how things are now, but I know that before Hyungseo joined classy she, Chaeyeon and Jisoo met up often and shared IG stories but now that they have all kind of started their careers again they might not up as often. But at least after they left Busters they were in contact☺️

@@jihoonscarat thanks ..I do remember chae talking about her redebut and how she had hard time and how happy she was to redebut it was quite emotional..glad she got out from that company. I get feeling maybe they are getting on with their respective careers and maybe don't keep in touch to avoid any bad publicity coming into their new situation.

Yeseo recently said that the reason why she left Busters WAS NOT because of "extreme fans" (sasaeng). MARBLING said that without her consent. And that night when the fan came, she was not alone, but with her parents. She also said, that she was sorry for that fan, and was happy to see him at Music Bank last year. So Marbling lied about the real reason why Yeseo (and probably Jisoo/Chaeyeon) left Busters.

She did say the stalker was going overboard. However it is a very odd situation, and the concern is still valid, she should be protected especially in situations like that. Over all it’s very odd

Also, maybe it's just me and it could be just how they sound normally, but I think what 'adds' to this is the fact that - to me - they all have cutesy, high-pitched voices. Combine that with the styling and a *lot* of this choreo Im seeing in the video and it's... yeah, not a good look. If the company is somehow still around, Im hoping they will end up shut down like that TS company was (if you know then you know again)
