I did it too, december 5th 2023. Torture ! Really ! I was not prepared and I tought it would be easy ! I have to admit that I cried too during the last part. I felt so alone with the elements and was so tired. I prayed all my dead relatives and God so they would help me to finish it ! At 48, I was the oldest in my team so they waited for me about 15 minutes on the summit until I made it too. I will never forget that experience. Amazing view. And I have a lot of respect and admiration for the guides and porters who climb back and forth, twice a week, with 50 pounds of material and food on the shoulders, in sandals ! They are amazing. Yes.. Rinjani is real no joke.. but it's worth the view and satisfaction. You're so tough and resilient... it's ok to take slow walk coz everyone has their own pace. Good job.. you did it.

We did this 2 days/1 night trip in '94. There were no check ups, no tents, luxury and stuff. You would sleep on the wooden planks of a shelter. Only some small groups of tourists including girls with a guide were there. Nobody was crying or really complaining. We experienced it only as a spicy climb. The most uncomfortable was the seemingly never ending descend.

Try other mountains in central java, u can see mountains side bye side in front of your eyes like merbabu, Sindoro sumbing, prau and others.

Unfortunately that is trash 😔 The companies try their hardest to keep the trail clean, but the base camp is a bit harder to maintain I suppose
