The picture of the band, from left to right: Leon in the sunglasses. Original bassist, didn't play on this album, but rejoined them right after. Billy Powell, keyboards. The one in the purple shirt. Ronnie Van Zant, 3rd from left in the black T-shirt, was the lead singer. Bob Burns, the drummer, is in the red shirt and is leaning on the bricks with his hand right over Ronnie Van Zant's head. Gary Rossington, guitar. Sitting in front of Burns. He was the slide player on "Free Bird." Allen Collins, guitar. The tall dude. Lead guitar on "Free Bird." And...last but not least: Ed King, guitar extraordinaire, bass on this album since Leon had just quit temporarily.

Sad thing is the lead singer Ronni Van Zant said he would never see 30. He didn't have a scratch on his body, he hit his head on a tree branch. One of the survivers who was injured crawled from the crash to get help. They knew the plane was fucked, some of the band voiced their concerns but Robbie convinced them as it was going to be the time they actually used that specific plane. Ronnie's brother is now the lead singer of the band.

The lead singers name is Ronnie Van Zant. He’s the one wearing the Cowboy hat. Ronnie, guitarist Stevie Gaines and his sister Cassie Gaines one of the back-up singers, the road manager, the pilot and co-pilot all died in the plane crash on October, 20 1977. Subsequently to that day over the years other members have died. Guitarist, Gary Rossington is the only remaining original member still with the band. Ten years after the crash the band reformed with new members and Johnny Van Zant - Ronnie’s baby brother took over as lead vocalist. On May, 04, 2018 the current line-up began their Final Farewell tour. It was scheduled to end on October 24, 2020. But because of Covid-19, the tour will end on September 21, 2021. I’d love to see and hear y’all’s reaction to Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Back My Bullets.

Also one of the survivors stumbled to a farm and when the farmer saw him he was startled and shot him in the shoulder. Imagine surviving a horrific plane crash and going for help and getting shot!!!
@sparky60862 жыл бұрын
@@menwithven8114 @men with ven It was the drummer, Artimus Pyle. Decades later, he found out, that it was actually the farmer's wife who shot him. I saw an interview with Artimus on The Musician's Hall of Fame KZbin channel. I can't remember exactly, but strangely it may have been accidental, & coincidentally, she was shooting at something or someone else, & Artimus just happened to stagger into the line of fire? Anyway, they let him use the phone, & the farmer gave him a ride back to the crash site. The farmer assumed, that Artimus knew, that it was his wife who shot him & didn't realize, that Artimus thought, that it was he. It was clarified at a memorial anniversary held at the site. Someone, maybe the farmer, his wife, or their relative happened to stop by, & when they spoke about it, they recognized the discrepancy & straightened it out. ...Now that I think about it, I'll see if I can find that video & post a link to it. I'm curious myself. It may have even been, that the wife was mad at her husband & was shooting at him! ...I just found the part of the interview. Artimus discusses this at around 12:30: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYPafZ-fqrVsl5o Turns out, that it was the wife who showed up at the monument dedication. She said, that she was having a fight with her husband, shot at him, missed & hit Artimus who just appeared out of nowhere. Quite a coincidence! Hopefully, she was just trying to scare her husband & missed on purpose.

Ronnie Van Zant, is the voice y'all hearin. And, his younger brother, has his look's and his voice! He didn't wanna trend on his older brother's name and talent's, when the band asked him(Johnny Van Zant) to take over for his older brother's spot, as the lead singer. And, there used to be 11 member's, in the beginning. And, not all died, during the plane crash. But, enough did, for the band to question comin back. And, if y'all loved this? Then, y'all can spend hours, just go through damn near all of their song's, especially the iconic GOAT of a song, "Freebird".
