My theory is that this show was created to stop John's crime spree. The man was addicted to burglarizing houses, and the feds couldn't stop him because he was just too good at it. Eventually, they made a compromise in which John was given a Discovery show that allowed him to break into homes under the condition that he didn't actually steal anything. But sometimes he still got that itch, which led to moments like getting a little too excited to break the leprechaun statue

Had a friend steal a stereo from a frat house in the early 90s. He walked in during a party and just walked out with it. Funniest part was he lived across the street, set it up on his porch, and the next day was blasting music when a kid walked by and said, " hey we have that same stereo." 😂

Okay I'm confused. So the show STARTS with a guided tour of all their vulnerabilities and where they keep their valuables. THEN they break in....I feel like if they didn't do step one, step two would be a lot harder 😂 Edit: come on guys. Yes, I see it's 2 different people but they work for the SAME show. Let's not be willingly gullible.
@Vincent_Beers
@Vincent_Beers Жыл бұрын
It's two different people. The host tours the house, the thief doesn't. The house gets wired with cameras and then the host sits with the owner and watches the thief break in. (or sometimes they do it at a surprise time without the owner there if they sign up for that). The thief isn't shown the house ahead of time, figures out a quick way in and then steals what they can in a short amount of time. Afterwards they give back all the stuff and pay to have the home security upgraded. It's actually really well done. I used to watch that when it was new and the host would respond to fans on his website if you wanted to ask him questions. It's really easy to break into most homes if they don't have a security system, it's usually as easy as kicking in a window or climbing up to an already open second floor window. You also have to remember this was almost 20 years ago, cameras were not nearly as common as they are now on regular homes.
@rosestar1324
@rosestar1324 Жыл бұрын
It's 2 different people. 1 tours the house, the other robs the place. There even were a few episodes where the home owners pointed out the locations of some valuables and Jon didn't take them (cuz he didn't know they were there).

Apparently every early 2000's college guy's room had the couch from Matty's room. I knew a guy who had that same couch.

4:00 respectfully Chris, I had some friends growing up who would held controllers like that. Called it the “claw” method. That man’s just a crazy gamer

On the contrary the claw grip on that controller actually means they were probably playing actual videogames, this show is nuts

not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but at 4:00 this technique is called playing "claw," I've only ever seen it used for fighting games. Love the video and channel btw!!

3:57 It’s called “claw” grip… actually a pretty well known thing in FPS games. It’s to hit certain buttons faster. At a cost of the worst arthritis and bone deformity.

This probably the first one where the guy wasn't fake video gaming. That's definitely how you hold a controller if you're half decent at Tekken and other fighting games

I inspect Fire Escapes for a living… I’ve done probably 2K Frat & Sorority houses. They’re open at almost every entry and Fire Escapes are NOT locked.. all for a reason.

They both had juvenile records for theft and one had a record for burglary. They both stopped young and turned to acting. Basically they were kids who learned their lesson, they never claimed to be anything more than that.

so interestingly enough: how he holds his controller was actually somewhat common back in the day. at least on xbox. using your hand like that was called the calw and was used for pro halo back in the day. because it allowed you to jump and turn at the same time by using your index finger for the analog stick and your middle finger for the face buttons.

I'm almost old enough to be your mom, and I just found your channel: I'm loving revisiting these HORRIBLE shows from the early 2000s. Reality TV was the wild west back then and it was so offensive and tacky. I laugh constantly at your observations, so thanks for enduring this trash for the rest of us!

Omg this was my favorite show as a kid. I remember looking it up and Matt was a much less prolific burglar than Jon. Jon was like a career criminal turned stunt man, Matt like stole a car one time and was mostly an actor. I remember reading forums about this show as a kid, I miss old internet and reality tv
