Anybody who's lived even a little bit of life can identify with these sentiments. This whole CD rocks. Takes you beyond the great music and fantastic vocal stylings to a deeper level. This gets inside of you. Man if you aint been hurt, you haven't lived! Thanks stefanoburaschi for sharing this with us.

Burt Bacharach is simply great! One of the best composers of popular music I´ve ever heard. The first song by him I heard was "This guy´s in love with you". It just blew me away. Thanks for posting these fabtastic versions by Elvis Costello. Cheers. Oscar, Argentina

i'm currently listenning to this song 7-8 times. Yes, i'm touched by the lyrics. But the feeling elvis puts into this song, it's incredible. Not many singers can bring a song the way he does. I have listened to other songs he did as well. But the way he sings on this performance he never accomplished it in other songs(my personal view). I really love it. Two thumbs up for this performance.

What seemed as it might have been an awkward collaboration turned out to be absolutely genius! Hal David would have loved it! I have been a big fan of Elvis Costello since My Aim is True and of Burt and Hal's writing since I was a kid, mostly done by Dionne Warrick, but this proves that Burt can work with others and the results can be just as stunning.

This reminds me of my parents getting divorced. They loved each other so much, but just could not live together. When they had their wedding anniversarys, they took us three kids with them to celebrate. We witnessed their love for each other and their breakdown of their marriage. We loved them so much and when they parted,us three kids were so distraught.Shortly after, our mom died of a heart attack. Our dad drived 300 miles for the funeral, but had to pull over because he cried so much.

What a brilliant, heartbreaking song - I can't think of any other which so captures the gap between hope and happiness of the early days of a relationship when two people reckon they can live under the same roof, and the desolation of its subsequent dissolution. I don't think anyone else has written about that dilemma of " all our friends must choose"...
