I had to mind a yearling highland cow for a while many years ago. She loved to romp with me and allowed me to bulldog her. I was separated from her for eighteen years. When I saw her again , she immediately came to me and pressed her poll into my stomach which was her way of saying "let's play!" I couldn't believe she remembered me after so many years! Im pretty sure the inbreeding from american cattle created the Texas longhorn. My Grandpappy had a longhorn named Blue. He would walk up to Blue and scratch his head. We have highlands up the road from me. A calf once got out into the road. I pulled over, ready to dash to the farmhouse to get help, when a random neighbor in a pickup truck stopped, scooped up the calf, put it back over the stone wall, and whistled to the mother cow. She trotted up and collected her baby. The guy jumped in his truck and kept driving. Rural folks are so kind!

Even though they are docile, wild highlanders should be respected. Do not pet strange cows. That said, we have wild highlanders and wild horses here. They are both incredibly chill. If you come across a herd of horses relaxing while standing, you can simply sit next to them and they won't mind. The highlanders are even more chill. Had a bull casually walk a bit too close to a couple. The couple got scared and quickly walked away, the bull just stood and watched before he continued on his way.

I lived on a farm as a child with Black Angus in Kentucky, USA. My favorite cow was Betsy. She was so friendly and would follow me around for pets and cuddles. Her favorite game was for me to turn my backside to her and she'd lift me up off the ground with her nose and pitch me a few feet. She was so careful doing it and we both loved it. I love cows! They have beautiful big eyes and the prettiest eyelashes that most of us women would pay big money to have. I just found your channel a couple of months ago and find it extremely interesting and informative. It brings back great memories. I was an only child so the animals were my siblings. Besides the cows, calves, and bull, I had horses, ponies, cats, dogs, monkeys, turtles, fish, frogs, and/or whatever I rescued due to injury. I would nurse it back to health and release it. That would make me cry but it was the best thing for the animals. Thanks to you, your crew, and family. Y'all are very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. ❤🐮❤🐄❤🐂❤ I have always loved Highland cows. I would've never been able to leave that calf there! 😂 Precious.

She manoeuvred her own horns into the crush. You can't force highlander (yes, I've worked with them) into narrow spaces if they don't choose to go there; but they are, as Graeme said in the video, like cats in that they know exactly where they can (and can't go). For regular handling there are specially adapted crushes which are easier for them, but they don't cater for the hoof trimming bit.

It drowns you in his goodness and changes your heart to love everyone. Even my enemies, which is impossible on my own. Listen to John Burke and the scientifically proven afterlife cases. Even with differing religions, cultures and languages, they all mostly agree with the amazing love felt. And it fits the Bible of the Christians! Jesus Christ is Lord! And he can heal your heart.

I never thought you'd get those horns thru the crush so easily. I had a dairy and beef cows, but mine were dehorned as calves. So the horns never grew and I have little experience with horns. My time was 40 years ago and then we had nobody with Graeme's ability doing trimming. It's amazing to an old guy. Most of the repair work Graeme does, required the vet here. When I was young, most farmers did their trimming which was almost never. I've seen hoofs so long their toes crossed. So the oldtimers used a chisel and hammer to shorten the hoof. 120k views in 6 hours! But only 14k gave a thumbs up. Why is that? Not only does Graeme do a great service to his bovine patients, he makes it entertaining for the rest of us. Old Oregon Dairyman
