Electromagnetics can be pretty powerful in a compact size. It's not like having a regular magnet. They use a continuous current to maintain the magnetic force, which is where my concern lies. I'm not sure what impact that'll have on battery life. Every small power draw will add up. It's also a failure point. Imagine the system slipping right out of the circuit fails, or if the battery dies.😂 They'll probably be a physical locking mechanism too, but for all that, the entire system could have been physical. I get that they'll want to show off some flashy tech, and maybe there's some other cool details about this setup. I'm sure they thought about all these things. Just hurry up and reveal this thing, Nintendo!

8" would be nice. I still have the lcd steamdeck, but I do have the portal which has a fantastic 8" lcd screen. I would not be disappointed with a similar Switch screen.

For me everything mentioned in this video makes perfect sence and is realistic. Let's see some data. First, the Switch is a console, that has had an extremely long life cycle, maybe the longest ever for a home console. It has been the best seller console over 2 generations, which is something, that has never ever happened before in videogame history, and right now it is in the gates of taking back the world record from Sony PS2. The point is, that the generation of PS5/Series X I think is rather getting clocer to it's end, and the time of coexistence between the next Nintendo and the PS5/Series X will be shorter or much shorter, than the coexistence of Switch and PS4/XBoxOne. Nintendo can't be on power really behind PS5 if they don't want to be very soon technologically way back from PS and XBox, since the whole point of the Swich concept is being able to play current gen home console games anywhere. Nintendo has had 8 years for developing the next console, and I think after the Switch breaking the world record and after selling the Switch Oled being more expensive, than the normal Switch, and much more expensive, than the Xbox Series S, I think Nintendo now can take the risk to be more expensive and still being very sussesfull. Nintendo need to see, that this console will mainly coexist with PS6 (if that console will even exist) and the next Xbox Series.

@@bowl3864 Ok. I mean without a next generation released, as being the main console. By that PS2's core life cycle is from 2000 or 2001 (something like that) until 2007. I have no idea right now of the full life of the GameBoy and Nintendo DS, but in total these also lived very long, but as I said, I refered as the lifetime as the main console. Yes, as main console Switch has had the longest life overcoming alone 2 generations and in it's 8th year we here are just speculating when will be the next generation, because it has not been anounced yet. I think it has never happened in videogame history, that for a console after 7 years there is still not even anounced a next generation.

Predicted this 4 yrs ago that it would have to be backwards compatible especially when it was hardware that was sometimes limiting it with some games. It was similar to Wii-wiiU and ds-3ds-New3ds situations. What I’m curious about is how the fps would be on 4K. 60 fps? I can only hope.

I feel if it's only a conservative upgrade over current switch then it's a potential of being a huge miss. I look at last gen titles that look very poor to horrible on switch, The Outer Worlds (horrible), The Witcher Three (poor, just very fuzzy)... And games these days blow the the graphics from those away. If switch 2 is just going to be a conservative upgrade, then I would expect those newer AAA games will still look poor and possibly play poor on switch 2. :(

DLSS Runs the game at the native resolution. So the system needs to be able run the game at 4K in order to use DLSS to produce decent results.

But c’mon, it’s 2024 and we’re talking about a 2025 release… A docking station that can’t handle a 2160P output would be unacceptable. The PS5 and Xbox Series X are already capable of supporting 8K TVs, once game developers get there, and can push out 4K graphics at 120fps on games with an optimized performance mode. My iPhone 13 plays videos at a max resolution of 2.8k, and could probably push out 4K output via some sort of docking station. I can understand 1080p resolutions in handheld mode, but only if the battery life is equivalent to the Switch OLED. A 1080p OLED screen, at a price-point hovering around $400, would be acceptable. But 4k output, when docked, is the minimum we should expect at this point. Sony and Microsoft are already discussing the release of their “Pro” console models, potentially in late-2024, so the Switch 2 really needs to be powerful enough to outlast the current console generation, considering how late it’s coming out. I hope the rumors about the application of generative AI to upscale the graphical fidelity and performance of games is actually true. That would be a game changer for the console industry. However, I highly doubt that they would have finished a trained generative AI model capable of doing something like that, consistently, at this point in time. If we know one thing about Nintendo, they do not like to ship a “work in progress” that could impede non-first party developers’ abilities to program games for their consoles. That technology would require too much expertise and supervision from actual Nintendo staff.

I really don't get it, Monolith writing is abysmal to me. Cheesy and inorganically safe doesn't even begin to describe their storytelling. I mean Xeno 3's theme was just beating the deadest horse in all of media in the most uninspired way imaginable. We get it already, war is bad and we need to stop the pointless violence. And that frighteningly vanilla protagonist. I've seen silent protagonists with more personality.
