Radhabinod Pal, you may not have even heard the name of this great man. There are many other Indians, who neither know nor recognize him, but today we are going to tell you such things about this person, which will surprise you. Not only do people know this person in Japan but also worship him like a god. This is the reason why special memorials have been built in Japan's Yasukuni Temple and Kyoto's Ryogen Gokoku Devalaya in his memory.
Radhabinod Pal, born in the then Bengal province on 27 January 1886, was an Indian legal jurist and judge. He had studied law from Presidency College and Kolkata University in Kolkata and after that, he was also a teacher in this university from 1923 to 1936. In the year 1941, he was appointed a judge in the Kolkata High Court. Apart from this, he was also an advisor to the British. Radhabinod Pal was an Indian judge in the 'Tokyo Trials', an international lawsuit against war crimes committed by Japan after World War II. He was made the representative of India by the British government. In total 11 judges, he was the only judge who had decided that all war criminals are innocent. These prisoners included more than 20 other leaders and military officers, including the then Prime Minister of Japan Hideki Tojo.
Judge Pal wrote in his judgment that it is not proper to make laws about an incident after it has happened and that is why he ruled to leave all, forcing the prosecution of prisoners of war to the victorious countries of the World War, while the rest of the judges Had given him the death penalty. This is the reason why in Japan he is still respected as a great person.

Radhabinod Pal (27 January 1886 - 10 January 1967) was an Bengali jurist from British India present day Bangladesh, who was a member of the United Nations' International Law Commission from 1952 to 1966. He was one of three Asian judges appointed to the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, the "Tokyo Trials" of Japanese war crimes committed during the Second World War.[2] Among all the judges of the tribunal, he was the only one who submitted a judgment which insisted all defendants were not guilty. The Yasukuni Shrine and the Kyoto Ryozen Gokoku Shrine have monuments specially dedicated to Judge Pal

For those saying Radhabinod Pal was a Bangladeshi, you're clueless. He was born in Bengal province, British India and never went back to East Pakistan/ Bangladesh after the partition. His entire family lives in India and he even received the 2nd highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan. To state Pal was a Bangladeshi is like calling H.S. Suhrawardy or Jinnah an Indian.

There are so many comments stating that this great man is Bangladeshi. This is false. For those who want to know more, please read on. Radhabindo pal was born during the time India was colonized by the British. Countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan did not exist during that time. So his identity was Indian. When the Tokyo trial was happening, he didn't go to Japan representing Bangladesh because Bangladesh did not even exist during that time HAHAHA. He represented India because he is Indian and he knows he is an Indian. The Bangladeshis in the comment section here, my request to you is to stop claiming this man as your nation because he himself recognized as Indian and I doubt he even knew the word Bangladesh. Your Pride does not change anything. Even If you insist he is Bangladeshi, nothing will change because he will still go down in history as the justice that served India and NOT Bangladesh.

Radhabinod Pal lived solely in Kolkata from 1922, and in 16F Dover Lane from about 1925 to 1967, when he died. He last visited Kushtia in about 1930 as far as I am aware, and his last few visits were purely to sell off his ancestral properties. After that his only visits to East Bengal were to Dhaka briefly in the late 1930s, on a couple of occasions, purely for official business. After 1947 he did not have any links with the then East Pakistan, since all his relatives had migrated to India. The man had struggled a lot in early life in East Bengal. Correctly or incorrectly he consciously tried to cut off all connections to those unpleasant memories, in favour of the (as he saw it) sophistication of Kolkata. He in fact tried to gloss over the fact that he was a Bangaal throughout his life in Kolkata. Please note that his conscious cutting off all East Bengal connections was not due to religious reasons, as some have alleged, and it was purely because of the unpleasant memories- Binod was religion blind. Due to these reasons I believe that it is not correct to claim that he was either an East Pakistani or Bangladeshi. I am a relative, born in 1948, and knew him intimately until his death.

I see a lot of Bangladeshi 'Muslims' commenting he was Bangladeshi. First of all, if he wanted to be called anything other than Indian, he could have stayed in East Pakistan. But he didn't because the jihadists there were massacring innocent Hindus and destroying Bengali heritage and culture. So, he renounced all claims of being called anything else other than an Indian. And, secondly, he was a Hindu. Also, i don't see bangladesh can remain Bangladesh for long. Because of the radical Islamist ideology spreading there. I warn the Bangladeshi and Bengali Hindus and other minorities like Buddhists (If there are any Buddhists in Bangladesh) to be very careful. Stay safe. And, Everyone's comments are allowed. 😂😉 Especially those Bangladeshi 'patriots'! 😂😂

Operation Ichi-Go is an operation conducted by the Japanese Army on the Chinese mainland from April 17th to December 10th, 1944 during the Sino-Japanese War. It was the last major offensive of the Japanese Army, which caused the National Revolutionary Army to be hit hard and affected during the Chinese Civil War. However, on the other hand, the United States is also mediating the conclusion of the Double Tenth Agreement with Chiang Kai-shek in order to avoid a civil war. According to a study by Barbara W. Tuchman, the results of this operation had a more significant impact on the subsequent war situation than the Japanese had imagined, and had a decisive impact on Japan's fate. According to it, Franklin Roosevelt has consistently strongly trusted and supported Chiang Kai-shek since the beginning of the war, and encouraged him in the war against Japan so that he would not drop out of the Allies in a single peace with Japan during the Cairo Conference. However, he said that he changed his mind because the front of Chiang Kai-shek collapsed due to this operation. In fact, Chiang Kai-shek has not been invited to important Allied conferences ("Yalta Conference" and "Potsdam Conference") since then. According to the Stilwell document, Roosevelt said, "Can China win?" Stilwell said, "There is no choice but to eliminate Chiang Kai-shek." During the 1944 Hengyang battle, he could not sleep at night and twice. He says he thought about suicide. The American side also planned to assassinate Chiang Kai-shek, and three methods of "poisoning", "aircraft incident", and "pretending to be suicide" were considered, but it was canceled in 1944 due to changes in the international situation such as Burma. The successor that the United States envisioned is Sun Fountain. As Roosevelt's Chief of Staff George Marshall and General Joseph Stilwell have long insisted, Chiang Kai-shek's army is actually a demoralized and corrupt organization that does not form an army. It became clear that he had no desire or ability to fight with the United States and other Allied forces. As a result, President Roosevelt changed the scenario of the operation against Japan from the conventional bombing of Japan and other countries from the air bases of mainland China to the one that MacArthur and others claimed to occupy the islands of the Pacific Ocean one after another. China was dismissed at the Yalta Conference, and the Allied nation's footsteps were disturbed, with angry Chiang Kai-shek presenting a peace plan to Japan against the will of the United States. In the Japan-US negotiations, Japan's allegations were peace by the confluence of Wang Jingwei of the Nanjing government and Chiang Kai-shek of the Chongqing government, and a proposal for defense from communism jointly by Japan and China. The US allegation was the withdrawal of Japanese troops from China, admitting only the Chongqing government. The negotiations broke down and the United States stopped oil, resulting in a war between Japan and the United States. The Japanese Operation Ichi-Go attack left the National Revolutionary Army with 750,000 casualties. This caused the Kuomintang to lose to the Communist Party in the civil war. China would not have been dominated by the dictatorship Communist Party if it had made peace with Japan and cooperated in protecting it from communism.

Those who thinks Mr. Pal is from either country they lack sense of shared history of undivided India. They have nothing learnt in school or their education is worthless. Those who say he is Bangladeshi, they lack so called modern western inspired education, the concept of nation state and citizenship. A mere look at his life gist in wikipedia, can tell to what alliance he served even when Bangladesh 🇧🇩 wasn't formed. By that logic Jinnah and Suhrawardy are Indians 😜

I am a relative, born in 1948, and knew him intimately until his death.

ha ha ha good joke keep it up .There is no evidence that he is Bangladeshi but he was born in (present day) Bangladesh but when he was born it was "INDIA" or "BRITISH RAJ OF INDIA" and when he died it was "REPUBLIC OF INDIA" he born on 27 January 1886 and died on 10 January 1967( in KOLKAATA) . West Bengal is in INDIA not in Bangladesh and KOLKATA is the capital of West Bengal . so what we learn , Radhabinod Pal was an True INDIAN.
