Cheers from an Italian in London - I would prefer the sun-dried tomatoes filling too, especially if soaked in extra virgin olive oil and oregano. Thanks for the entertainment!

Can I use shredded cheese from a bag? Really want to try this. Thx.

Yes, but only mozzarella. We tried with another cheese and it just melted in with the water

This is a surprisingly good idea that I have never thought of. If I wanted to make these ahead and store them, how would I do so? Also, I noticed there wasn't an addition of any salt, I have to imagine that when you're melting the cheese in the water, it would probably leech away a lot of the salt which would probably get rid of a lot of the flavour. Would storing in a mild saline solution help with the final product? It would probably help with stability as well. When I was a kid, a chef on the food network did something similar to this that I forgot about until now, where he melted mozzarella cheese and then squeezed it around cherry tomatoes. I haven't thought about that for now close to 20 years. Wow.

Honestly, not sure about the shelf life with these things. We did keep it in water until we were ready to use them. A salt solution is a good idea. But we suspect these would only be good for 3 days refrigerated. When we ate them we just added some flakey salt and pepper and it was delicious
