Very true. I always keep remembering in between laughs that Melissa McCarthy's character was being honest and the main characters did in fact threaten her kid and then lie through their teeth about it when confronted.

The couple is lying. They are jerks. McCarthy was in the right. She loses because she is fat, poor, single, and she cusses. The couple knows how to play the game. All of them were perfect. When I first saw this scene I thought it was funny but felt kind of bad for Catherine, but now I see she kind of deserved it. She refused to believe that her son was a bully or do anything about it, now the principal refuses to believe or do anything about the people who "bullied" her. It is karma.

@@hd-xc2lz maybe but these comedies are 50/50. some people have gone through bullying during their school years or as parents who have bullied children and take these matters very seriously. because it may be a comedy but there are many parents or children who bully each other just like that or worse(ok maybe not with the exact phrases used in this movie) but you get my point. theres a fine line between being vulgar and funny, and between funny and making light of a sensitive issue. tbh this scene didnt make me laugh for the most part, also I dont ever wanna hear someone say they are glad someones family member died, especially in a comedy, that is supposed to make me laugh and take my mind off things. like i dont think this womans lines are funny, to me she comes just as an evil childish immature crazy adult, and all that not in a funny way, just nasty way.
@hd-xc2lz3 жыл бұрын
@@riateor2243 Not sure what to say in response... but kinda seems to me that you're willing yourself into this more serious than necessary reaction. It's fiction, not documentary, and all storytelling, comedic or tragic, requires some conflict to make the protagonists' journey worth following. I'm afraid you will close yourself off to too many positive literary or filmic experiences if you divorce yourself from their fictive context, and approach each as a lesson.
