Tokiyuki existed and most major events in the comix are historical. But to describe him something of a pacifist is a modern adaptation. That most of the Hojo Clan, including the regent, were wiped out is also historical. At one place, the Tosho temple, whopping 800+ Hojo Clan Samurai committed Seppuku within hours, which still holds the record in Japan. (It's described in this episode.)

This story begins with the downfall of the Kamakura Shogunate due to the betrayal of one of its allies in 1333. Most of the characters are historical figures who appear in textbooks. The protagonist is also a real person.

Don't be discouraged. Although it is currently being serialized, only the author knows how the story will progress. Endings may differ from history.

@@Kimisdomain01 Actually this age is not so common because it's hard to make movies or tales.One famous history writer said to deal with the era is deadly for the writer.in addition it lacks the meaning 'justice'of the era"too chaotic". In NHK's drama the main character is Asikaga.Hojo clan is the first enemy. One of the reasons for the weakening of Hojo's Kamakura shogunate they couldn't pay enough to the samurais who defended Japan twice from Mongolia. Taiheiki means 'record to the peace'it means how it was war age.Japan becomes stables after Takauji's death,the era of his grandson Yoshimitsu who build famous golden temple ' Kinkakuji'in Kyoto.from there,the gorgeous Muromachi culture blossomed. 実はこの時代あまり作品にされにくいそうです。有名な歴史作家によると「書くのは命取り、しかも時代のもつ義がない」とのこと。あまりに混沌とした時代なので ドラマでは足利が主人公になります。北条の弱体化の理由のひとつに、元寇を２度防いだ侍たちに十分な支払いをできなかったんですね。太平記とは平和への記録、すなわちいかに戦乱ね時代だったかを示します。日本が安定するのは尊氏の死後孫の義満の時代です。そこからは豪華絢爛な室町文化が花開くのです。
