Except that as soon as a shark realizes it’s being followed, it dives down, and circles back to get behind the thing that was following it.

Love all of your footage. Have learned so much about these sharks through the incredible work you do. As a lifelong resident and ocean-goer here in SoCal, I’m always so curious to know when and where exactly these videos were filmed…while I now know (thanks to your channel) that these beauties are around us all the time, I still would be so interested to find out the particulars of when/where these sightings occur. Perhaps one day I’ll actually catch a glimpse myself… Side story: I have a sneaking suspicion that one bumped into my leg a couple years back while bodysurfing just before sunset at El Porto (South Bay area of LA). I can definitely differentiate the feeling of fish versus sharks (I know sharks ARE fish, but I’m talking perch or smelt versus sand shark or leopard shark, this felt like the sand or leopard sharks…only much, much larger. A bit to my own surprise, I wasn’t too spooked and just kept on catching waves until after the sun had completely set (granted I’ve always felt that my blindingly pale white skin and bright red hair might help distinguish me from shark food, lol), and that was that. Have always wondered if indeed it was a white shark…🦈🤍

This video is amazing, often we can't get an idea of the size of these animals until we see a 'comparison' to a human scale. Tremendous.

Omg,I was on one of those 99 cent Walmart floats once and my bff was on hers beside me on a small clear lake down in Florida. We were right out by the little bouy line they put out to show swimmers not to go past that point. We're all relaxed floating along with our toes hooked over that bouy cable so we'd be fat enough or the little kids wouldn't bother us. As I glanced down casually beneath us, I saw a gator longer and bigger around than is AND of flimsy little floats just cruising along the bottom right under us!! The things head was literally wider than either of us!! Man, for a minute I thought I was going to drown, right there in place! It flashed thru my mind do not go into blind panic and start splashing @ thrashing my way back to dry land, but you can bet you're ass that's exactly where I went and from they're home!! And I'd be much more terrified of a shark, especially one that size than I would of a gator. I mean, normally a gator has to be hungry and the human doing something stupid to draw unwelcome attention. With a shark, if you listen to some ppl, all you gotta do is be there and the shark wonder what that is @ take a little nibble and next thing you know both your legs are gone and every shark within a mile is interested in becoming your best friend.

Nope, more like 14. Still it could bite that paddle board in half. I spend a lot of time in and on the water along the California coast, especially when living on my boat moored out. It's the forced perspective that makes it look larger than it is. It's usually juveniles close to shore from Santa Cruz to San Diego.
