He called the song on the street cause he used to be an underground street dancer before joining bts and he also does lives where he trains freestyle dancing and call them "hope on the street" in kind of an hommage to the past j-hope just to answer your questions at the end

holy smokes. As fans (army) of these guys we are used to this. But yeah, BTS are confident humble humans and they do challenge toxic masculinity. j-hope is a rapper and he is very respectful to old school hip hop. You will hear a lot of that respect infused into his tracks. He can go very hard but this is a send off to his fans as he goes to military for 2 years as required in SK. j-hope is a rapper, producer, writer, and a hip hop dancer. The melody, whistling etc. is all j-hope. If you watch j-hopes More, Arson MV or Hansang from Lollapalooza you would start to get his duality and versatility.

J-Hope's name did not come from J.Cole... sigh.... J-Hope's name is Jung Hoseok so the J comes from his REAL name. Before debut J-Hope wanted to symbolize himself as Hope for his members and this "Hope" came from the story of pandora's box. His entire name came from this mythical story of Hope being the last thing that left the box as it came out into the world after all the chaos was unleashed. This name means so much to him that he made an album called Jack in the Box which takes us through the journey of how Hope left the box and entered the world. I think before generalizing an artist maybe do a little background, it helps.

This isn't kpop lol it's just Hip-Hop.. Kpop is an entire industry and BTS is way bigger than Kpop (the industry) but people like to pigeonhole BTS into this category. BTS started as a hip-hop group with underground rappers. J-Hope is taking it back to his roots with this one. He always looked up to J.Cole as his muse and he used to dance to his music as a teenager. J-Hope was also a street dancer for many years so in the MV we see him at the bottom in the subway and in the streets and J.cole on the roofs. In the end they meet at the top. PDogg produced the track, he is BTS's in-house producer but the melody and whistle sound came from J-Hope. J.Cole wrote his verse and J-Hope wrote his. The entire song is a farewell gift to his fans because he will go into the military soon for 2 years. He's saying everything I do is for us, the fans. J-Hope gave J. Cole 32 bars out of respect and love and he absolutely delivered a fantastic verse.

Bts is still around and jhope has always been into bts. Not to mention there massive around the world and they sold out stadiums as well especially wembly stadium. This song by the way isn't kpop. Jhope is a fan of jcole and his name is like his because he idolizes him. They met at lalapalooza and now friends as well.
