I’m a trucker chick. Always keep a box of non perishable food you would never normally eat in your car. Even the freeze dried hiker meals like you can find at REI. Some of them cook in the pouch. Keep a 3 wick stable candle in there too. It will raise the temperature enough in your vehicle to keep you from freezing to death. Walmart has some weird pots that you put non smoking gel fuel things in too. I’m not sure how much oxygen those would use up though. I think a 3 wick candle wouldn’t eat up too much oxygen, so you wouldn’t have to crack open a window

It used to be recommended to keep a coffee can with tea light candles and a box of matches in your car. The coffee can was probaby partly recommended because it had a lid to keep the contents of the can secure and dry. You could put the tea light candle in the coffee can, then light it, and it will make the flame safer and the metal from the can will radiate heat. I recently saw someone recommended dipping the tips of wooden matches in clear nail polish to protect them from moisture. I've never tried it, but it's interesting. It might be better to store your matches in a smaller container or plastic bag within the can. Mylar blankets and regular blanket to put over the mylar will help keep you warm. You could melt snow for water, if there is snow around, but it might be nicer to have a spare bottle of water handy when you are out and about.

Me too! Thanks for all the tips! Im not looking forward to the snow but I’m enjoying the cooler weather! Saw some snow in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky a few days ago! A few years ago I got stuck at the TA just outside of Cheyenne for 4 days and they sold out of everything they had on their shelves and their food they sell! Luckily I had kept a watch on the weather and had stopped and stocked up on things just a few hours before. I stopped there before it got going good and a few hours later the interstate was a mess and shut down!
