I don't recommend worrying about budget much in hydraulic levels. Optimized hydraulics is always just making a really short hydraulic that moves a lot due to a big lever, exploiting the invincibility of expanding hydraulics. You could try for minimum stress or ignore the leaderboards entirely, because I think everyone would agree that e.g. the claw machine solution is "better" than the cheaper solution. Hydraulics levels are a time when unfortunately Being Cool and Being Cheap are conflicting goals.

i was intrigued so asked AI it says "Feasibility of Non-Traditional Anchor Tower Shapes The feasibility of using non-traditional anchor tower shapes in cable-stayed bridge design largely depends on various engineering considerations. While the conventional vertical anchor towers provide direct and efficient load transfer from the bridge cables to the ground, alternative configurations such as J or L shapes could potentially introduce additional complexities in terms of structural stability, load distribution, and construction challenges. Structural Considerations When considering non-traditional anchor tower shapes for cable-stayed bridges, structural engineers must carefully evaluate the impact of these configurations on the overall stability and load-bearing capacity of the bridge. The deviation from a vertical anchor tower design may require adjustments in the distribution of forces within the structure to ensure that the bridge can effectively withstand dynamic loads, including wind and traffic-induced forces. Geotechnical Aspects The geotechnical characteristics of the site where the bridge is to be constructed play a critical role in determining the suitability of non-traditional anchor tower shapes. The soil conditions, foundation requirements, and potential impacts on neighboring structures must be thoroughly assessed to ascertain the viability of deviating from conventional anchor tower designs. Construction Challenges The construction of cable-stayed bridges with non-traditional anchor tower shapes may present unique challenges compared to standard designs. The erection of inclined or horizontally oriented anchor towers could necessitate specialized construction techniques and equipment to ensure precise alignment, adequate support, and safe installation of bridge components. Aesthetic and Environmental Considerations In addition to engineering and construction aspects, the choice of anchor tower design for cable-stayed bridges may also be influenced by aesthetic and environmental considerations. Non-traditional shapes could offer opportunities for innovative architectural expression and integration with the surrounding landscape, but they may also raise specific visual and environmental impact assessment concerns. In conclusion, while it is technically feasible to explore non-traditional anchor tower shapes for cable-stayed bridges, their implementation requires comprehensive analysis and consideration of structural, geotechnical, construction-related, aesthetic, and environmental factors to ensure the overall integrity and functionality of the bridge.
