I was watching a video of a drummer not too long ago and the drummer had torn holes in his blue jeans at the knee and you can really see what is leg was doing when he hit the bass drum with the pedal because you could see his leg moving up and down clearly with the lighter patch of skin sticking out of the knee hole. Where you have a shadowed leg wearing dark pants it's almost indistinguishable to see what the leg is doing so I came up with the idea that if you're going to do a video of a drum set overhead or even a front shot with a small bass drum...perhaps some white masking tape or white medical tape on the knee would help clarify what the leg is doing when you are playing the bass drum with the foot pedal.

IamUncledeuce I mean not to sound rude man but shouldn’t you be able to hear what he’s doing? Bethel kick patterns are generally pretty simple

@@jayterminiello9444 I play live, most gigs I rely on my eyes to see a the bass drum foot and lock in. I have used in ear monitors at bigger venues but usually they are not available. In most situations the sound on the stage is far less than optimal. But to answer your question... I usually watch YouTune on the fly. That means, a tiny phone with a tiny speaker.

can someone explain me why does he hits the ride cymbal side to side in the strong part? thanks!

Hey so I’m am a drummer and do the same thing when I get to a big part of a song and the reason I was taught (this could be a totally different reason from him) but is to not localize stress on the cymbal. So hitting it side to side will make the area where the cymbal is hit larger making the chances of the cymbal cracking less. Hopefully that helps!

@@jakobgifford5845 many thanks for your answer! I thought could be that. In my experience (I experienced at home) hitting it side by side made a more cut and pronunced sound that hitting just one way, paid attention when I did it after asking, but didn't thought it could affect the motion of the cymbal in cracking wise, THANKS a lot!

Lucas Badilla no problem anything I can do to help. Being someone who is a hard hitter when it comes to drumming it really helps the life of my cymbals.

If you are looking from the top view his ride cymbal is on the right, if you're looking from the front when he talks, it is on the left.
