Thank you! But for the sake of full transparency... It's funny...because we've eaten out on this adventure more than we ever have in life (just not always shown on the weekly vlogs). 😂 It's just been so crazy we often too tired to make dinner (or at least that's been one of our many excuses)! But we're getting back into the swing of making sure we have enough stuff in our fridge to cut back on the excuses for eating out. lol -J

Brooks Falls was our favorite Alaska excursion! We went the third week of July and so many bears I couldn't keep up with the count! We were on that dirt path heading to the boardwalk, literally less than 10 minutes from leaving bear school, when a mama bear and her cub came ambling towards us. We and another couple were on the path. As instructed, we got off the path but couldn't get more than two feet off because of a hill. We got behind trees. That mama was no more than 6 ft from us. She just kept walking. The baby got curious and came towards the trees, but i guess mama signaled the baby and it turned to follow her. It was the ultimate bear experience and I captured it all on video! Someday, I'm going to upload it to our youtube channel. So happy you had good weather and a great Katmai experience. For us, it was worth the money.

Glad you got to see bears up close but not too close. Trin was kinda just chillin and tired from the party she had. I flew in a puddle jumper years ago, the lady asked if I wanted a window or aisle seat, got to the plane and it had one seat on each side of a very narrow aisle. Splash down is pretty smooth. Great video, awesome job capturing the bears. Stay safe and healthy. You should look at something else you might want to do if you think you have money left, it will be expensive to go all the way back to Alaska but you are there now. Also BTW the temp this morning in Wisconsin was 37, weather is changing.

Wonderful footage so glad you got to do this. Did you see any bears in Hyder?
@OpenRoading3 ай бұрын
Sadly we did not. We heard there was one there but it left shortly before we arrived. We did enjoy the glacier though! -J

Darn I was hoping you’d see bears but you’re right the glacier is beautiful🥰 So nice meeting you in Anchorage and again at the RV park in Houston. Safe travels❤

We were in Alaska in August as well, so we are just catching up on all of your videos (we took a cruise/land tour and flew into Dawson City, YT too). I was literally CLAPPING when I saw that you got to see your bear with a salmon in its mouth. Yay! The only opportunity we had for that was in Ketchikan by the salmon ladder, but we didn't have time to go because we had another excursion. Some people in our group got the same experience as you at the salmon ladder though. I don't know what it is about seeing wildlife in their natural habitat but it is such a magic experience, each and every time! Turns out that the only bears we saw in Alaska were the ones in the pictures on our tour bus 🙄. What a great experience you had. Enjoyed this video very much. Oh, and the comparison of Alaska to Vegas regarding expenses is SO TRUE! (and we're Canadian, so we also have to pay the current exchange rate on top of the already outrageous food prices. At one point I was missing my fruit, so I bought a small bag of plums at the local grocery store...$12.69 😳). Crazy! Great video! Keep 'em coming 😊

"Turns out that the only bears we saw in Alaska were the ones in the pictures on our tour bus 🙄" Oh man! This is how we have felt driving various roads where people say "DRIVE thIS ROAD TO SEE EPIC WILDLIFE!!" and we've seen....mostly nothing on those roads. 😂 Wildlife is so fickle! -J

Wow, what a lifetime excursion! What I don’t understand is the fishermen at the shoreline..... Isn’t that like saying to the bears... ‘Dinnertime’.... 👅
@OpenRoading3 ай бұрын
You can fish up closer to the falls too. 😂 apparently because the fish are so prevalent they don’t care about the people. If I understand correctly you just have to be ready to cut your line if a bear decides it want the same fish you do. 😂 -J
