Since I accidentally opened comment section while thinking about it, I'm gonna comment. Everytime I watch a civ streamer setting up settings in civ 6, I wonder how the opinions may vary in different language communities. For example, in Russian-language Civilization VI community (at least in the part of it I can see) there is an almost unanimous consensus that barbarians make your Deity single-player experience easier. Like, the AI is bad, it loses a lot of units fighting the barbs while actual players know enough to keep their units alive and also to gain perks from barbarians way more effectively (not only with Barbarian Clans mode, but also in the usual game with barbarians) and by mid-game or late-game with barbarians your units are way more experienced than the AI's. So, most Russian-language 'hardcore players' I know or follow turn off barbarians while playing on Deity in single player and actually turn on barbarians only for multiplayer games (especially FFAs and duels). On the other hand, in English-language, as far as I can see, people tend to think that playing without barbarians is always easier than playing with barbarians. It's just an interesting fact I think about a lot (I generally think that such random differences between various communities in random spheres is an interesting and fascinating topic). Also, thank you very much for your videos! I really like your content and I watch it somewhat regularly (not every video - I usually don't have time for that, but I'm always here for the first episodes and I sometimes turn on your videos as a background for doing other stuff), even though I comment pretty rarely.

The Chinese civ 6 community agree with you. The barb mode allows you to farm the camps, and potentially have more city states to feed Kilwa in case the ai take city states. In general, most players here believe that every mode makes the game easier, except maybe the tech&civic shuffle mode.

Polish civ community kinda disagrees. If you get s hold on barbarians early then you can use them to have nice experience, but on the other hand if you got bad luck they can absolutely make your early game and early war a pain in the ass

You ever tried the preserves with the Inca on a mountain map? They get yields from mountains and preserves give yields to mountains. I once managed to get a preserve in a ring of 6 mountains, it was amazing

The problem with this is that you shoot yourself in the foot for good campuses or holy sites. Also the preserve goes where you would want to put a terrace farm. Basically, the Inca are bad because you need mountains for most victory conditions, but the Incan tile improvement also uses mountains. So, you have to decide if you want to win or play Inca as intended lol

@@moon_wizard1250 The Inca are really strong if you get the right combos. Terrace farms are an extremely strong improvement that enhance mountains, which you can combine with the earth goddess pantheon for amazing yields. The lack of adjacency doesn't matter for holy sites then - you'll have more than enough faith from mountains. Campuses can just be placed on the flat. You sacrifice adjacency, but the Inca have huge production so you can construct the buildings in them in no time, as well as massive populations to work specialist slots. You can still build campuses on flat land next to mountains. Their UU is a recon unit that's stronger than a crossbowman - it's ridiculously powerful. All that coupled with very productive trade routes make the Inca a strong Civ. They're fun to play, especially for science.

Tip: when the game recommends a city point and you can't see well due to fog of war, see what it says. It will tell you if there's fresh water and if its coastal and if it has resources.
