Q: i hear the top dries and paint is wasted by removing it, time after time. Quite expensive to lose precious paint. Is there a way to prevent hardening? A cover?

I wonder in what way is new ones have a different consistency than earlier oil sticks? I experienced when I paint and hold them in my hand they warm up from the heat of my hand and start to melt which makes them more runny/soft. I wish they were more solid like oil pastels and didn't melt while painting.

Why are they not supposed to be put on in thickness more than 1mm? A little sad these cant be used impasto style

I'm guessing if you go thicker than 1mm they take a century to dry due to the mineral wax component.
