Some memorable races here. The BBC had the king of commentators in Peter o Sullivan .They ignore racing these days thankfully ITV do excellent coverage. I ve loved racing all my life but can't get to the races these days. Fifty Dollars More was a favourite of mine and I backed him each time he ran. That day when he trailed Artifice I'd given up I accepted he'd finish a gallant 2nd so to get up and win is just so thrilling. A wonderful horse.

@@HorseRacingLegends yup ! I was an apprentice brickie working on a post office building somewhere in Glasgow at the time and listening to the 1982 Gold cup from the roof of the unfinished building 😀.. as SB had won 2 King George’s for me and being a tit when it came to comparing form etc I saw no reason why I shouldn’t follow it off a cliff like a right stupid punter 😳.. Foreman liked a punt too so he allowed me to get down the bookies near the bus station in Buchanan street as long as took his bet too and the brickies I was working for too 😆.. I was paid £23 a week as a wee slave to they F#%^*#s and had the bright idea to put £15 of that on Silver Buck at ( can’t remember if it was 8/1 or 10/1 - just remember thinking I was super clever to be stealing money cos it had won the King George twice 2 years previously 🤦♂️) … of course it won and I was the richest but luckiest and dumbest apprentice in Scotlands history 🤯… and a gambling problem began 😝 Long since stopped gambling but it took a toll for a long time .. and it was all down to a big Black splendid chaser and and a lucky hunch fae a right divot with a wee trowel and nae sense 🤣 👍🏴
