Awesome review! I had the XM4's for a couple of weeks & while I enjoyed them they just didn't seem to have enough punch & volume (I have some hearing loss). I traded them out for the Sennheiser CX Plus buds & thought those sounded better & had great ANC and a weird transparency mode. Once the initial reviews started coming out for the L3P's I decided to send back the CX Plus buds (Amazon hates me) & ordered the L3P's. Won't be shipped until November 1st though. ☹

How do you like them? I've read: Cons: - Increased latency when playing emulators on Android (Galaxy S21) compared to the Liberty Air 2 Pros. Playing emulators with the LA2Ps there was no latency in sound at all. - Putting the earbuds back into the case is quite finicky. I would put them in the case just to find out that they're still connected to my phone 20 mins later. - Sometimes I would experience glitchy transitions from ANC to normal mode. It sounds as if 1 earbud switched to normal mode and the other was still in ANC mode. It's very disorienting. This never happened with the LA2Ps - ANC has more of a pressure feeling compared to the LA2Ps. Also, it sounds almost as if the 2 earbuds have different levels of ANC. It is difficult to describe, but the ANC sounds off, which is another issue that I didn't have with the LA2Ps. I have tried different wing tips and sizes but it still sounds off. I have also tried to reset them but that didn't do anything. Overall, I am very disappointed with these earbuds. I really wanted to like them but there are far too many cons for me to justify keeping them.

Love the review. I've had my Liberty 3 Pros for awhile and love them. I tested out a bunch in the price range and just found Sony's sound profile to be somewhat boring. The 4's were just announced so I've seen these discounted as much as 60-70 bucks off. Honestly tho, what ultimately made me hit the subscribe button was the comment 'that's like saying that the knocked-out boxer had better looking gloves.' THAT cracked me up.

I completely agree with everything you said in this comparison, and this is going off of me having the Liberty 2 Pros not the liberty 3s. I purchased the XM4s last week from Amazon, used them for approximately a half hour then went right back to Amazon and started the return process for them. In my opinion the sound quality was mediocre on the XM4s, the bass sucked and the mids were muddled. The fit was also crap, the large ear tips were too large the small ear tips were too small and the medium ear tips were also a bit to big. I had to jam the ear buds into my ears and they hurt my ears the entire time. Since the XM4 earbuds were so tight in my ears it also affected the ANC to the point that it was creating so much pressure in my ears that it gave me a headache and made me feel nauseous. I don't know why everyone says the XM4s are the best wireless earbuds on the market, maybe because they are in denial and don't want to admit that they spent $200 on a mediocre sound experience? I'll be keeping my Liberty Pro 2s and also get a pair of Liberty Pro 3s or maybe hold off for a little while and wait for the Liberty Pro 4s to come out.

That is way too short of time to judge ear buds. You know the break in period that some people talk about? It may not be real on the hardware end for head phones but it's definitely real in your ears adjusting to the sound. When I bought my sennheiser 6xx I hated them. Thought they were boring. But I kept playing games with them and after maybe 30 hours of listening they blossomed out of nowhere and my jaw dropped. Absolutely incredible sound from cans I originally thought sucked and now I love them. I haven't heard any of these ear buds but I'm just saying... give it some time before you judge and you may be surprised.

@@paladinmatt1697 I did end up returning them. I got the Samsung Buds 2 Pros which i also returned because they constantly felt like they were about to fall out of my ears. I thought I might have been insane to order a set of the LP3s to sell my Bang & Olufsen H9 3rd Gens but I might be pretty happy with them. It was mostly to save money because I can resell the H9s for more than the LP3s cost. Also because I think buds would be better for use walking and jogging than the H9s, which are large heavy over the ear but wireless headphones. ANC isn't too important the H9s were already plenty good enough though they give me a slight cabin pressure feeling when it's on like I feel like I want to yawn and pop my ears? Anyway, it's mostly about SQ above all and features a close 2nd. I'll be using a rooted phone with Viper4Android anyway so there's lots of room for reshaping any sound signatures I don't like, but I'm hearing good things.

I own both of these Sony XM4 & Soundcore LP3 earbuds... and to me, it's not so clear who the winner is. For sure the Sony has the best ANC in the market currently, but the LP3 does have an amazing soundstage and better treble response by far. However, the treble is just TOO much and I actually like my headphones bright. The cost of so much treble is that everything sounded thin on the LP3. I've tried EQ'ing and it's still very tinny and not very balanced. I also felt both of them were too low in volume. When I was in a noisy cafe, even w/ ANC on both, the music was not loud enough. Also, I actually thought the Sony was more comfortable vs the Soundcore but comfort is a very subjective criteria. So I'll be the outlier and say that I prefer the Sony for its comfort and ANC and will just make more effort to EQ its sound to compensate. I'll be returning the Soundcore, even if it's half the cost of Sony.
@arie12933 жыл бұрын
I also bought both and have had a similar experience. The L3P get uncomfortable where the earbud rests on my outer ear over time. The XM4’s tips are just a smidge too big for my ear canal but only by a little so they’re comfortable for quite a while before I need to take them out. I’m 45 and my hearing isn’t perfect so the L3P hearID seems to help quite a bit although I have to agree some of the treble is almost too much. The XM4’s controls also seem quicker responding to me like the processor in them isn’t having to work as hard. It has been a really tough decision for sure. I’m going to try spin-fit tips on the XM4’s to see if it makes any positive difference on sound and comfort.
@UnholyMerlin13 жыл бұрын
Same, I returned the L3P as well. The Sony's ambient mode is incredible compared to the L3P. The Sony's also work with one earbud in whereas all the functionality of the L3P is gone when only using one earbud. I agree with your tinny statement when switching back and fourth between the two. I was probably disappointed more because of the hype of the L3P's.

Great review guys! However, after watching a lot of your reviews, I do think that you guys need to be a bit more aware of preference. While you guys may love the sound of the Liberty Air 3 Pro more than the other earbuds, there is probably someone else who loves the sound of other Wireless IEMs than the Liberty. No matter how much you may like the sound of an certain earbud, I still think that you guys should give a description of the Bass, Mids, Highs, Soundstage, Detail, and Timbre. And afterwards give a recommendation of those earbuds to people based on if they like a certain sound signature such as neutral, neutral-bright, neutral-dark, etc. Because whether an earbud sounds good or bad is heavily influenced by preference. I learned this the hard way when shopping for headphones. Thanks again for the review, I loved it.

Can you tell me something about hiss when listening to music without ANC and/or Transparant mode? I know the Liberty 2 Pro suffered from extreme hissing noise, I hate hissing noise. I currently use the Bose Sport Earbuds and there is no hissing at all, they are dead silent, only the batterylife is disappoiting.

Wound up buying both to return the loser and it has been really difficult to decide. Both actually have almost equal noise cancelling but the Sonys win because the passive isolation for high frequencies is considerably better. Adjusting the eq on both I can get brighter sound with the liberty 3 pros and bass is so close it’s pretty much a tie for me. Comfort is a weird one with no clear winner yet. The Sonys fatigue the ear canal over time and the liberty 3 pros fatigue my ear where it rests in the outer ear despite trying different wing sizes. The silicone tips are very comfortable though and make an excellent seal with little to no adjustment when inserted. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually think I’d be giving up a tiny bit of sound quality if I keep the Sonys for the better noise isolation over the liberty 3 pros. They really sound that good (with hearID sound test completed)
@UnholyMerlin13 жыл бұрын
I am returning the Liberty 3 Pro's not because of ANC or sound quality but for functionality believe it or not. I use one earbud a LOT for work and the Liberty 3 Pro's can only listen to music with one earbud. EVERY other function is used with both earbuds in. The Sony's at least allow you to have all of the same functions with one earbud in like the Galaxy bud pro's do. The other reason is the transparency mode and slider on the XM4's is out of this world! The galaxy buds 2 and buds pro destroy the transparency mode of the Liberty 3 Pro's and the Sony's destroy them all. I am most disappointed in everyone in saying "yeah, they work with one earbud in" without actually saying there is no functionality to them. You can't even research it. I only found out after purchasing them and trying it out.
@DHRME3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeffery - what functionality do you miss with just one bud in?
@UnholyMerlin13 жыл бұрын
@@DHRME Everything! You can't tune anything on the Liberty 3 pros. You can't use ANC or transparency mode with one earbud in. You can't access any equalizer functions. The only functions it does give you are single touch, double touch, and long press. Which you can use for play/pause, skip, and repeat. The earbud essentially goes into "off" with no ANC or transparency mode basically acting as a plug in your ear with passive noise cancelation. I contacted soundcore and they didn't say they had any plans to implement it. Their response was basically "sorry, ANC and transparency mode only works with both earbuds in." I do believe the equalizer holds though if you tune it with 2 earbuds in but no way to tune it again unless you put the other in your ear. Do you know what I mean? Sony allows you to do everything with one earbud in with the exception of the fully customization of touch controls.
@DHRME3 жыл бұрын
I do see the value of being able to switch ANC mode to transparency.
@UnholyMerlin13 жыл бұрын
@@DHRME I agree, it's more so in an office environment where I want to use only one earbud and listen to music so I can hear people talk to me from behind me or engaging in a conversation. The weak transparent mode with both in and very soft music would prevent me from hearing someone. I work in IT and people need me all day long. I also can't use one and not have transparent mode because I would only be listening with one ear. I don't want to have to ask someone to repeat themselves because my earbud is acting as a plug!

Although I'm just researching TWS buds now and I don't own anything from Soundcore, I have to add to the segment about sound quality, that I said it for a long time now: You don't buy a Sony product for its value, you buy it for the logo. Just look at their TVs and phones. The company has massive margin over what the hardware are actually be capable of.

2:30. Thank you. This should settle it for anyone under 40 without hearing damage who is looking for Literally Any earbuds right now. With almost any other - you are hearing very little or almost nothing over 11khz. That means you are not hearing what is widely defined as trebles. None. With the L3P, you simply are. Everything else you can cover with the EQ. The speakers on these are just New Tech, it seems. Keep the freq responses coming! Amazing!
@Jermz19792 жыл бұрын
I personally wasn't happy with the fit the XM4's provided for my ears. It was exceedingly difficult to keep them in snugly and sealed well. Wound up giving them to my son to replace his Galaxy Buds and they fit him great. I decided to give the L3P's a shot since I found them on sale for $85 which was half off MSRP. Put some foam tips on that I bought on Amazon then the ANC is on par with the XM4's. So on par that I legitimately couldn't tell the difference. The transparency mode was better on the XM4's, but not so much better that it blew the L3P's out of the water. For what I spent, the L3P's are worth every penny and way better bang for your buck than the $280 I spent on the XM4's

@@KingdomWithin7 holding up great 👍. No issues. I wound up buying another pair that I keep on my motorcycle. I have a wireless Android Auto standalone unit and to make things easier and faster so I don't have to open my phone and swap connections on my phone, I bought the second set. I just finished a long distance IBA ride (1000 miles under 24 hours) with them and wore one at a time, swapping them when I stopped for gas every 200 miles (about every 3+ hours). Took me 18.5 hours and the battery held up great. Had about 1/2 charge left in the case when done.
