WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZbins lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZbin deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

Seems to me that advocating the watch might be improved by making it heavier is doing damage to the sector of watch lovers who appreciate titanium precisely because of the weight and grey look. If you don't appreciate Ti watches then don't review them??

I got one on the canvas strap but i need to order the bracelet, I have 2 of the 800 series the first one I got years back for 80 bucks and I trashed it wearing the hell out of it the second one I paid 130 bucks for and I treat it like a Rolex because the price just keeps climbing that’s why I bought this one so I could beat it. I love it so far its very light and very tuff especially for 60 bucks.

I have the Seiko 5 snk 807 and I needed something of the same type, I love this type of watches, the aviator format from the Second World War And I bought the black one that looks like the Seiko snk 809, it is all titanium and sapphire crystal and it is a watch that is really worth it

I have this watch. It is good. What I like is that inside it has a SEIKO movement. That means it has the "heart" of the original. I like that. They call it mech-quartz, so it is quartz but it does not tick, it sweeps like an automatic. This watch is VERY light - which I like for summer. The back being "blurry" doesn't bother me at all. I threw a $10 rubber watch band on it and am very happy. The lume is good enough. It does degrade but when I wake up at 7 a.m. I can see the time in the dark, which is good enough for me.

I've never been a big fan of numbers on the dial, I think it serves no purpose and clutters up the design. I mean, I get it when a watch is lumed and it has a 12 for easy orientation in the dark but there are other, more subtle, ways to achieve that. Smart of them to show the logo instead of the name though, I think that will be good for sales. I mean....Berny, makes me think of that hopeless guy that's always sitting in some dark corner of every pub, drinking alone....

I bought one for myself, but it got annexed by the Mrs. Bought a second and love it's simplicity. How times have changed when sapphire and full Ti at $70 can be criticized. PS there was a Version 1 with polished bezel and 3 'o clock crown.

I have the Seiko Snk809 plus a Lorus Lumibrite so while an interesting watch that niche in my collection is already filled. But interesting to know that this is their best seller. My Berny is the v2 Swiss Railway watch.

This faded yellow is nice. All I can seem to think of when I hear the name is Weekend at Bernie's, albeit the different spelling. Yet, I do own a Berny from a time period when they were advertised on Reddit (years ago) and it still ticks and looks like a more expensive watch. Thank you Gary.

I agree with you on most points here. It's priced right and it was a little more water resistant, it would be a great bester watch. I noticed that you use a lot of "not"s in your descriptions "not a fan," "not wild about," but it would be more informative if we knew where you really stood - as there's a lot of space underneath "not wild about," for example. Are you pleased, disappointed, feeling neutral? Must be a polite British thing.

I have the original Seiko - (my 'gateway' watch) but I also have one of these on the canvas strap. The titanium matches the bead blasted finish of the original - it has much better water resistance, and sapphire crystal where the original is just acrylic. I feel happier knocking around with the Berny as my daily wear as the original has so much sentimental value for me now.

A quartz ALBA in titanium costs around $80 on Ebay. From what I hear, ALBA is made by Seiko. I'm not sure how good they are or how it compares to this Berny.

I've got a green dial Seiko so don't need this but i do need something with that quartz movement in it. Just seen on Long Island Watch another Seiko with that dial but different hands and 3 o'clock crown. I'd quite like that too.

That's a really nice looking watch Gary, really like that shade in the titanium case. It's better with no name on the dial, just the logo looks great. It's just a pity that with the high beat movement that they printed "quartz" on the dial. It wasn't necessary. As for the ding Gary I have a Seiko titanium diver with a hard coating on it and it's dinged and scratched to bits. Very first day scuba diving and it got it's first few scratches. Since then...let's say it's got a lot of character. 😂😂😂

Great review, thanks. Lorus did a similarly looking titanium watch, though it came with a nylon wristband and mineral glass, but did have 100m of W/R and a date complication and now seems to have disappeared, luckily I got one from Amazon. EDIT ...it's back! On Amazon for £65 Thumbs up.

Not a bad effort I've got SNK803, SNK805 and SNK809s so I can see where the inspiration came from and the colours available. The lack of weight may make it feel a bit insubstantial but thats just titanium, (I have a 300m 42mm diver in titanium, 15.5mm thick at just under 120 grammes) so it may feel more balanced on a canvas or nylon strap.

Press on caseback for quartz is a pain and that dent is bad whatever the price. The hands also look short, so I'm not a fan. Well done for pointing out the flaws.

There are some people out there who have no shame over dinging up a new watch and then returning it for refund. Then the insult is compounded when the sellers turns around and tries to pass that damaged watch off on another buyer. None of these situations reflects badly on the watch, but on people. There are rare situation wherein a new watch with flaws can slip past QC, and that’s always regrettable and remedied.

It is an attractive watch but in my opinion titanium is just not a good case material. I've had a couple and even treating them with kid gloves it will eventually touch something and get a scratch and you can't polish it out. I tried. Eventually it will look so bad that you won't bother wearing it, except maybe in the garden, which ironically will make it even worse 😂. It's lighter, but let's be honest, what adult person is going to feel the difference between 80gm and 120gm on the wrist? Titanium is a fashion fad in my opinion. Still people will buy it, it's a good price. They may not be wearing it for very long but at $70 they can't really complain. Excellent review Gary. The honesty is always refreshing.

Titanium really excels for otherwise much heavier watches . This Type 2 titanium is soft, and will show wear. It’s a cheap, light, beater finish. Titanium is available in Type 5, which is a harder alloy. Titanium can also get a smoother finish and a hardening treatment, yield the stunning light weight plus the aesthetics of a nicely finished matte or polished finish. Not all titanium finishes and alloys are the same. This range is part of the appeal of titanium.

@@Area_man115 Yes , good points, but the hardened coating I've experienced didn't help. I have a Seiko titanium diver with a diashield coating on it. Used it as a dive computer back up just once, thinking it's indestructible but got scratches all over when diving in an old shipwreck off the Turkish coast. It's only a few microns thick. However, it's probably fine as a protector in everyday situations.
