Not sure I'd do it at over boiling temp, but KTM tell you to heat the engine to 4 bars, before draining the coolant - you keep it under control by leaving the cap on the top of the rad; which is what this guy did.

1. No it doesn't. Tell me where you got this rubbish. 2. What do you mean 4 bar, pressure or on the dash? 3. This isn't a KTM. 4. Don't talk shite. EDIT : Sorry, after reading this again, I noticed how you're even more stupid. 5. "This guy" Jon didn't even do what you said. The engine gets over 100degrees, we see the readout on the dash. He didn't take the cap off. 6. Wow you're stupid. 7. Please turn in your phone to the nearest police station, you can't be trusted with one.

17.5 of the 890R manual - and my apologies, it's the 5th bar (on the dash). I also know this is not a KTM, I was simply adding a bit of commentary onto one of your videos - most 'creators' (I hate that term!) like engagement with their viewers. I'm certainly not defending what this John bloke is doing, simply stating that at least one other coolant change process has you warm the engine up... As for 4, I presume you meant to say "Don't talk shite"?

@@dirtygarageguyI must be catching your brain rot or something.... did I miss an episode? You'll have to forgive any mistakes, as trying to reply to a message on the phone, doesn't show the comment I'm replying to - so I'll try to address your edited points. I believe I said in my original comment, how Jon/John didn't take the cap off (thus avoided a torrent of scaling water), you even alluded to this at 7:07. I can see his temp readout, and even said I wouldn't be opening anything cooling system related at that temp - but do we even know that the bike was still at that temp when he started the draining process? I haven't got the gumption to go watch his video to see, or re-scroll yours, but regardless - I'm pretty sure my comment wasn't in ant way banging the drum on opening a cooling system when it's literally at boiling temp. I get your USP is being angry/condescending/critical of other people (I'm guessing this lead to your channel rebranding - as I'm sure you were called something else during the Brock bashing days) - but you being unable to grasp a simple bit of commentary about your video (that's not even being cricital of anything you said) has been the highlight of my day
@dirtygarageguy

"I also know this is not a KTM, I was simply adding a bit of commentary onto one of your videos" - Your commentry is 1) wrong 2) is spreading the wrong information. "- most 'creators' (I hate that term!) like engagement with their viewers." - I am, it doesn't mean I have to suck your balls. "I'm certainly not defending what this John bloke is doing, simply stating that at least one other coolant change process has you warm the engine up..." - But it doesn't, you're wrong. Maybe you should check before looking like an idiot, like Jon should have... "As for 4, I presume you meant to say "Don't talk shite"?" - Yes, thanks for the correction. To be clear, you said "but KTM tell you to heat the engine to 4 bars, before draining the coolant" - but it doesn't. This is filling the system. After it states that it tells you to let the bike cool down. It states repeatedly "do not open the system when the coolant is hot"

If there are no specified torque value for one particular bolt , Honda tells you to use the universal torque value for an M6 for example. That is specified in the manual as well. On my Honda the drain plug is specified to 12Nm. So there is always a torque value. Sorry for my bad English
@mazdamaniac4643
@mazdamaniac4643 Ай бұрын
I can confirm, my service manual also states _"..12Nm unless otherwise specified.."_ for any M6 bolt on a Honda. These days, every nut/bolt/retainer has a torque value or associated procedure for tightening it. Doing it properly saves so much trouble later on.

Why do they think the thermostat needs to be open, as it'll close when the coolant is drained and the thermostat cools. Are they going to heat it up with a blowtorch before filling the system? I've never changed the coolant on a water cooled four stroke, I've only really owned air or oil cooled bikes and two strokes, but most two strokes there is a bolt or a balance pipe at the highest point after the thermostat that you can remove. For example on the RGV250 there is a bolt on the top right hand side of the rad, so you can fill and drain the system from the cap without an air lock behind the thermostat, if there isn't some sort of small hole in it
