5:00: Fifth Line is actually a bypassed part of the whole road that is now mostly Erin Mills Parkway. Part of Turney Dr. (Erin Mills and Thomas St.) was part of it too.

Nice memories to this city. I loved to live in Missisauga, I used to be often on the Dundas....

I grew up in Oakville, south of the Ford plant, back in the 60s. When I was in high school, I spent my summer vacations working in my uncle's printing shop in Streetsville. I'd ride my bicycle up every day. One thing I remember was riding up Winston Churchill, with my hands off the handle bar, as there was no other traffic on the road! Back then, at the intersection of Winston Churchill and Dundas (then known as Hwy 5) was a Supertest gas station on the south east corner and a store on the north west, with the Trafalgar Arms motel behind the store. I'd often stop in that store on the way home, to buy a bottle of pop. I don't even recall a traffic light at that intersection back then. Also, my entire trip, from North Service Rd. & Ford Dr., up Winston Churchill, across Eglinton and up Mississauga Rd. to Streetsville was through farm land. Back then, there were also weigh scales for trucks on Dundas at Mavis.

That's right. The weigh station house was boarded up around 1982, and a couple of buddies and myself busted in and looted it in the summer of 1989. It was pulled down entirely around 1991.

I grew up at Winston Churchill and Dundas and now live at Mavis and Dundas. The city has change so much since the 80's, can't say for the better though.

Back in the late 60s, I used to ride my bike through that intersection. No one lived there then. I'd ride up Winston Churchill with my hands off the handle bars, as there was no other traffic on the road! Back then, there was a Supertest gas station on the south east corner and a store on the north west. That was about it, all the way up Winston Churchill, from the north service road to well beyond Eglinton. It was all farm land back then. Incidentally, at one time, there used to be an abandoned drive in theater on Winston Churchill, near the north service road. I'm not referring to the 5 Drive in, which has been there for a very long time. Also, the intersection of Winston Churchill and QEW used to be the community of Sheridan, which Sheridan Nurseries and Sheridan Mall are named after. There's a monument about it next to the parking lot on the southwest corner of Winston Churchill and QEW. Back in the 60s, there also wasn't much at Mavis & Dundas, though there was a truck weigh station on the corner where the Supercentre is now.
