yah it's like they creators of the game never played a game before...but they must have as this is similar to a lot of games, in a good way. Essentially, they probably want to increase the wind-up time and speed up the actual swinging animation. That is, if they want to stick with the level-up-to-attack-faster system etc., which I think is fair enough.

@@feoleb What are you on about? An option for different animation speeds in a multiplayer game? In a medieval game at that where the animation speeds actually matter compared to say Tarkov? A part of it, I think, is that they aim for this to have a more slow, tactical and deliberate pace than that of many similar games. Another part is that their characters are supposed to be trash tier, they don't even own shoes. They are terrible at their job. Better gear, weapons, potions, magics and character leveling can use attack speed as a notable avenue of improvement. Also, the weapon we see most in the video is the slowest and biggest one.
@leetri2 жыл бұрын
@@__Albin__ It just looks crazy unrealistic. It's literally not physically possible to swing an axe that slowly unless you're intentionally holding it back and resisting the force, but at that point you're just pushing with the axe instead of swinging it and won't cleave shit. Even the heaviest war axes only weigh about 3 kg, a small child can lift and swing that (and even some toddlers). If you want the game to feel like you're an untrained newbie, making the animations look and feel god-awful is not the way to do it.
@__Albin__2 жыл бұрын
@@leetri The center of gravity in an axe is far from the hands, a 3kg axe takes significantly more strength to wield than it takes to lift 3kg. I've chopped down enough trees to know how unwieldy and tiring even just a standard wood axe is. And big war axes are much heavier, and longer. You are correct that the axe moves too slow in the downswing. The problem, I think, is that the game is in first person and they want the animation to be seen by the player. Much of the swing, (wind up, recovery, etc.) should realistically be off screen, and the portion seen should be the fast part. But that too would feel weird, there's a balance to be struck there and they certainly might not have done so yet.

Why do you think the level up mechanic isn't finished? Because they didn't level up in the video? They constantly swapped characters. Experience is tied to characters. You also don't get handouts of experience just for playing, you actually need to kill shit like it is in literally every single RPG to ever exist. So if you're dying to your incompetence, team killing, other players or by standing under doors as you close them, you're not getting experience. The game is completely fine. There's plenty of content there they literally haven't seen including becoming a trader, fighting elites / bosses, gold hoards, reviving alters, actually escaping a dungeon or going to an entirely new map. I've watched a lot of this game; so it's easier for to call it as it actually is; the boiks are just fucking awful at the game. The game is fine, it's entirely a skill issue.
@josephkelly48722 жыл бұрын
@@DaveYognaut01 if you look around 6:30 you can see the level up mechanics aren’t available. Like I said in my previous comment I think the concept of the game is good, and there has obviously been a lot of work put into it. But there are a ton of basic QoL things in this game that need improving, and the combat (especially melee) looks absolutely miserable to play. I think it’s a fair critique to say that the animations and pacing in this game needs a lot of improvement. Spellcasting looked to be very inconsistent and a bit janky (though this could’ve been down to Ross in all fairness). Difficulty seemed a tad extreme, I get that it’s supposed to be hard, and I’m sure the boiks made it harder for themselves than it had to be. But the creatures just felt like damage sponges they we’re having to kite around and wait to die. PvP seems like it would be pretty fun, especially in the tight corridors, but it seems hard to engage with it when the PvE is such a slog. Overall the game needs some work before I personally would ever consider touching it. But if the developers can pull it off I’d definitely drop money on this, can see it being an awesome game. I think the boiks saw that as well.

A lot of sheep in the comments here shitting on the game just because the hats didn't like it. They barely scratched the surface, let alone understood the basic mechanics. Which is a shame. You guys need to keep in mind they're the bottom of the barrel; they're on shit level 1 characters, they're using grey gear which has awful stats (including spell casting speed, action speed, attack speed, etc), they're also noobs and don't know anything about the game. Of course they're not going to do well; they're not going to win. Hell, they didn't even have a good party composition for the entire video. They're barely understanding their class mechanics but they keep changing classes, resetting their experience gain. There's an entire town outside of this tavern for becoming a trader and getting better gear that they didn't even progress towards. They switched characters so often they didn't level a single time either. Which early on is your main goal imho. They haven't even seen how to 'extract' yet, let alone saw elite / boss enemies or an entire new map. (Albeit for better geared players) They've done the Tarkov equilavent of start a few runs, sprint everywhere and be one-shot after a few minutes of wandering around. Then gave up in frustration of not knowing how to avoid dying. It's a shame the Hats didn't enjoy it and didn't have the patience to stick to one character and learn. More dissapointed they didn't realise it's their own incompetence and not the game's fault as if it somehow needs more work for them to get beyond the literal minute 0 starting point. Oh well.... They can try again next playtest.

Doesn't matter if they are shit tier 1. If the game isn't fun from the start, why bother playing it? They are better off playing something else instead.
@leetri2 жыл бұрын
If you have to play a ton before a game actually reaches the base level of fun, it's a shit game. When making a game, you need to make sure that the very core of the game is enjoyable. For example, the 3D Mario games are still a very enjoyable experience even if you strip away all enemies, levels, powerups, etc and just place Mario in a sandbox with a couple of blocks to jump around on. The act of moving Mario around is enjoyable on its own, everything else just adds extra enjoyment. This game lacks that core. If the game revolves around combat, that combat on its own has to feel and look really good.
