I was going in a church where there were folks that served to much. They were always at the church and involved in EVERYTHING and their family life suffered because of it and ended in divorce. It is important to balance your responsibilities.

That is common and sad. God didn't call us to do religion. Jesus actually rebuked Israel for that and warned those to follow not to make the same mistakes. Yet this religion has done just the same. So be it. The Lord warned. The people don't heed and want to follow after false leaders. The Lord's Will be done. ❤

Also. I had this feeling of being over served. I don't have to be involved with every thing my Church does. Especially when there's limits to how many can attend and resources. There's others who need what I've already received. I pray the Lord leads me to opportunities to lighten the burden of my Church family. 😊

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." was preached so much in my last church... then they closed the doors during covid, when many needed it the most. that stings.

'Start Serving' is actually very biblical advice. Just one problem, if you go to a church where the ego of a few 'key families' or the 'pastoral staff' subsumes all of the service opportunities, if they don't disciple and train, or create actual opportunity, then you may be in a cult of personality and not a church.

Wonderful advice about skills. I stumbled on to this nugget with God's help when my ex-husband left my son and I. I had no skills, but had wanted to be in architecture. God gave me a job, my very first job, in a firm when my ex-husband left. I shared that nugget with my son and it has paid off for him. I like the way you enhanced it though, so I'll be sharing that with my grandkids. I also like the way you tie it into church and community. Definitely watching the rest of these.

A great thing my pastor mentioned once was that there was an interview of someone who’s been pretty hurt in their church context. The interviewer asked them “how did you deal with being hurt by the church.” The person said, the church didn’t hurt me, 5 people did. So often this is the case. There was poor decision making or abuse executed by a few people but then we paint the whole church with one broad stroke. This isn’t fair, accurate or sober minded thinking.

Thanks for bringing up that topic. I’m in exact season right now. Though I totally agree that church has done and still is doing immense good (I experienced it first hand), I stumble on the fact that churches twist the scripture, pass on false beliefs and not caring about people who ruin their lives and families while in church serving and living that so called God’s purpose. I guess people want meat and tired of milk. They don’t want comfortable sermons and tired of manipulation.

I agree with you, but for example in Germany the big 2 churches (Roman Catholic and Lutheran-Evangelical) have had influence in the government, we even have church taxes (which you can opt out of, but by default you're in) and abused that which has damaged the name of Christ and the image of Christianity here in Germany. People are coming back to faith, but they're leaving the big institutional churches in masses, for one to just stop paying these institutional churches which have done bad a lot. I have done so too.

Great message. Aside from finding and serving in a local church are there any recommendations for stepping foot out into the community? It's been on my family's heart to do so, but we are not sure where to start, who to contact. I suppose maybe it's the obvious answer to just go out, talk to people, and make it happen?
@Happenstance2010 ай бұрын
This is the problem with the evangelical church. All the teachings and pastoring is put on one man's shoulders. That man is typically elevated to a place of worship and authority. We should be going to church because of Jesus, not because of who our pastor is. This is what is so beautiful about the Catholic Church. It doesn't matter who your priest or pastor is. The Mass is always the same, and it's always centered on Christ.

I was given many gifts and talents. Granted by the Holy Spirit. Wisdom and knowledge continue to fill me. As I continue to seek knowledge. I gave my contribution to the world when I put the little light on the cordless Makita screw-gun in 1993. It was before that that I saw a corrupt world and made a choice to not contribute to this society in any major ways. Fortunately for many I failed at that. Although it was my only failure. I am a nobody. I have no children. I never married from the heart. I became a professional at work to pay my way through society. Rent. Bills. Insurances. My skills vary from construction to music. Art to athleticism. Three languages. Large vernacular. Incredible memory. and two black belts. lol. It was a few years back that I started getting into the Holy Bible. I am 58. I was taught about God. I was told about Jesus Christ. I recently read the Holy Bible and not a single Church preaches to and for all mankind. How is that, Christian?

Cleaned every week some times every 2-3 days. It's better to give someone a job. As Christians we know 💯 % that those washroom have to be Cleaned constantly, why do we constantly look for volunteers and don't concider paying people. No one should judge, and again we are surprised to learn that as we watch a video of our life on earth while in the no time of God’s dimension, we watch ourselves doing acts of kindness and acts of disobedience. We understand how loving we need to be toward everyone.Yes we must forgive others who have done bad acts against us, and we must forgive ourselves.
