Basically, in the game you play as these characters to decide the fate of the bus driver, since these five characters represent his mental state. Depending on the decisions you take, the bus driver can leave his past behind or get overwhelmed by it, leading him to suicide. This is made quite clear as characters can die either by being killed by monsters from the past or if their negative traits remain untouched during your playthrough.

I hope Supermassive Games starts making better games though, because their quality is not the same. This is by far, the worst written game from them. Holy fuck, this is the most dislikable and idiotic group of people i've ever seen in any kind of media. It's becoming hard to believe that this is the same studio that made Until Dawn. Besides the writing becoming extremely bad, character animations are much worse. Also, the new input system is way too easy. And the visuals... When the retards get to the camp, wtf is that lighting? Shadows are way too dark, it's like the devs never actually been in a forest on a Sunny day. This playthrough was hard to watch because of how bad the writing was. Haven't finished watching it but it seems like most of the characters died so, sounds like a happy ending.

the situation at the start seems a bit confusing. Nick wouldn't be instantly 100% infected (in fact the science behind it says the exact opposite). So the hunters finger would not have had the infection. Shooting his finger off, if anything, just makes him more prone to infections now. And the gun shot draws attention (though I guess that part didn't seem to matter).
