I don't even know how they manage that when they were also dirt poor back then. People can say many hurtful things about China in those days and even today but to see China finally able to come out of it's cocoon, is an amazing glorious day for their people and wish Africa will soon be the same.

@@Jingjing_LiI recall the 1970-71 period in US protesting Nixon carrying on Viet Nam War, then it was uncovered about US bombing in Cambodia. Secret Air Force bases in Laos were known of, bombing there too, but always censored in main stream media. Harry Trumans US war in Korea was actually a loss, but Nixon was only worried about his legacy if he 'lost' war in Viet Nam. It was actually Kissingers idea to go to China first by 1971 which Nixon took credit for later.
@nanyanguo1
@nanyanguo1 Жыл бұрын
@@robertrichard6107 it is alright for Nixon to take credit as he was the Prez, the onewho weighed the advice of kissinger n made the final decision to visit China or not. Credit was also given to Mao as he was opened to the idea of uS seeking rapproachment with China.

It was great to see that this railway is still going strong and even better to see that it will get an upgrade soon. I travelled on it in 1977 when it was still quite new and it was easily the most efficient service in post colonial Africa at that time. It was also the first time i had met Mainland Chinese people and these interactions also left a lasting, and very positive impression.

Sino African friendship began when the Chinese admiral/diplomat, Zheng He, made several trips to East Africa between 1407AD and 1433AD, receiving a giraffe as a gift to the emperor of the Ming dynasty. China, unlike the Portuguese and the rest of the west, who destroyed Kilwa and other African civilizations and kingdoms, engaged in win win trade with Africans as is being reestablished by the Belt and Road Initiative. One ❤

So many "untold" stories that the world would benefit from seeing. Thank you for this visit. Was great to see the kids looking so happy and healthy. Thinking about the sacrifices made in the past, we should be mindful that to achieve larger goals, many people's efforts are needed and we need to be able to think beyond our individual desires. Can't wait to see what the new railway will look like, would love to travel on it someday. =)

And it worms my heart to see the hope in the face of all this children for a better future. Now way different than what I see in the face of Palestinian children in the Middle East resisting the constant brutal attacks of the Evil Israelíes for about 70plus years.

So glad you're making this video. I'd also recommend people look at the work of Deborah Brautigam, an independent scholar who has written extensively about the China-Africa relationship. It was from her book, The Dragon's Gift, that I learned about China's development projects in Africa as part of Mao's commitment to mutual aid. Sometimes I argue with Chinahawks who stupidly say that China is cynically exploiting Africa. I show them the mutually beneficial relationship China has and how China's system of trade in credit lines has done far more for Africa than western "aid" and "investment." I show them how far back the China/Africa relationship goes back in the middle of the 20th century. I show them how China stayed true to their commitments in Africa even when it wasn't profitable.

This was such a sad story to see all those young men who died far from home to build this titanic project. And to see happy Africans on this train line 50 years later, and soon to be renewed. It is a flagship for the technical skill and dedication of the Chinese people to help others around the world when they were just rising. Coming from Europe, I never knew about those gigantic efforts made by China to raise living conditions at home as well as in Africa and other developping continents. Thanks again, Li for those great videos. I love them all. It must make Chinese people very proud.

really a blood sweat and tears project . This isnt the lst time China help poor countries at own expense n sacrifice. ? There was the China built mega highway to provide access for pakistan provinces thro the steep mountainous pass to Xinjian. The project start ted in the 60s was completed in 78 . A graveyard at local village town bears testimonial to the chinese workers who died from falls n landslides during the construction. . Can Jing Jing do a feature of this project too? Jing Jing may also wish to do the feature of the building of lst transcontinental railway in america using chinese labour. The decision to import chinese labour was made after many local labour were unwilling to risk their lives constructing the railways thro hazardous n harsh terrain across the interior of america.
