Who is ALEX THE TRUCKING GUY?
I am a 22 year old traveling the United States that posts day in the life vlogs of a truck driver. I attended CFI's trucking school at crowder college and have been a truck driver since August 2021 but recently switched to work for a trucking company named Variant after watching a TON of Variant trucking driver reviews . I got into trucking because I've always wanted to live life on the road since I was 18 years old. Originally I was going to do vanlife but decided to live the trucking life instead because it was a better financial decision. I mean I have free housing and I travel the U.S. It's awesome! I mean what job other than trucking can you listen to podcasts while you work and travel the country for free???

Everytime a Variant truck with a US Xpress trailer I always look at the driver got excited if it was Alex haha thanks for another awesome videos Alex. I agree to all you said in this video. I am always Max weight since I haul wood chips always to the max 80k and I drive through I-95 through the heart of the city of Richmond VA and yes during rush hour all of them from 4 wheelers to box trucks alway ALWAYS cut me off too close and I always have a big room in front of me like you said we cannot stop that easy and everytime they cut me off I slow down to get my room back and that literally makes it even hard for me cause more delay to them I wish all cars have CB radios so I can talk to them. But I dont really care if it takes me a long long time as long as everyone around me is safe.

@@Mark-vu8ct now add the time over that same year if you was to go faster take the milage into account but how many extra jobs could you get done that would also pay... sometimes too slow is bad (not saying your particular speed is slow) but it's all well saying you save 20k but do you actually save it or do you cost yourself profit if you save a hour a day that's 365hours a year..... so 24x30=720 (24 hours 30 days in a month coming to 720hrs on that math) so you've got basically another 2 weeks driving time left just over/under..... can you make 20k in that time? If so you have to question did you save fuel or cost yourself work and extra profit in the long run.... when your running alot of trucks that makes a massive difference

Can you discuss the "blind spot" on tracker trailers. I always wait until there's enough room to drive past the trailer. I also assume if I can see the driver in their side-view mirror they can see me. Is this a sound assumption? Also, when a car moves into your lane, how do you determine if the car's driver "gets it" or is potentially dangerous.
@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY
@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY 2 жыл бұрын
Basically if you're tailgating me I can not see you at all. Not even a little bit. I can see pretty much everything else because I have 2 extra mirrors mounted on my hood. Most semi trucks have those. I'd definitely avoid being on the right side of a semi truck because the driver might want to get into the right lane. I'd say the hardest part to see is the right side of my truck. The front of the truck by the right tire. Don't be there!! Hard to see a car there

Hey Alex love your videos. I actually am a emergency commercial tire technician. I am 1 of the people that get called when 1 of you blow a tire. When I'm driving I always try to help truck drivers change lanes and give way to you guys.

IT would be useful if you show us how you count your driving hours....remaining hours etc. We în Europe we have The driver card Who îs put în The slot and The tahograph do The job for us. We only can drive 9hrs per Day or 10 hrs per day(no more than 2 Times a week. And we have 13 or 15 hrs total of work(including driving and other activities,like loading, unloading, etc) We also have to make minimum 45 min break after 4.5 hrs of driving...then , after a Day of work we have to do min 9 hrs breack

It's great watching your videos. I am finding out what not to do when I am driving close to 18 wheelers. There are so many of them in my area of Charlotte, NC as there are so many highways going different directions. I think I would have enjoyed being a truck driver instead of aircraft mechanic but now I am retired. Stay safe and keep up the videos please.

Hey man come to the UK where we are limited to 56mph in our trucks. Some big supermarkets limit their trucks to 52mph. Our driver's hours are different as well. I can only drive 4.5hours before taking a break by law. Keep safe out there ☺️

I think the governing of all semis is a good idea. I’ve noticed where I live how some truck cruise 70-80mph regularly on I-10. This part of I-10, especially, has a bridge connecting from one county to the other over a large body of water. Many trucks have gone over due to speeding and other bad drivers running them off. Stay safe Alex ✊🏼
