I just found your channel a couple days ago and I am so impressed by everything you do - and mostly do by yourself. I have to do things the same way, and carefully, because nobody's going to notice until the buzzards are circling. I think you should just keep the parts of your old set-up, I would, because you never really know what's going to happen in the future. Somehow I think you know exactly what that means.
@LadyoftheFarm5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! and yes, in fact, I’m really trying to fill my knowledge bank so I can plan some more builds! I’m so glad you found the channel and I understand. I don’t have anyone to call around here if something were to happen. I don’t even know if anyone would notice buzzards flying around! but you take good care and be careful. You and I will both do our things carefully!🥰🙏🩷

But I bet you could MacGuyver a timer thing attached to a rubber belt. I am just getting into the panel obsession thing, sooo...

today I woke up at 0340 and felt like I had to get up and get started on everything. So coffee first then I baked a peach cobbler. Many little bits of winters chores all got finished today. I even cleaned out the four runner. I built a wooden liner for the inside of the back of my four runner. I keep chainsaws and hundreds of feet of heavy duty timber rigging ropes and all the snatchblocks and gear that goes with all that. Yesterday I saw a neighbor struggling with a big blow down tree. His chainsaw was not up to the task. this tree was around three feet in diameter and had fallen across a creek with steep banks. I pulled up and asked if I could help cut it up. His eyes smiled and I suggested that he stay on the tractor and remove the chunks of logs as I cut them up with my bigger and healthier saw. Once I removed enough weight from the main trunk/stem of the tree, I rigged a rolling timber hitch, a snatch block and three hundred feet of bull rope that allowed me to get on good hard ground and I pulled the tree back across the creek and onto safe flat ground. in a few hours I had it all cut up and my neighbor thanked me and said, if you would like to borrow this tractor, I sure would like for you to. It is a four wheel drive tractor with a backhoe attachment! I am digging a foundation for my new workshop and this tractor will make a huge difference. Benevolence is a beautiful thing. Smiling, George.

Sure but…$800.00 just in lithium batteries plus the cost of the solar panels and the MPPT regulator🤔🤔🤔 Not sure how much is the kWh in her state but running a fridge and a freezer cost maybe $200/year so I really don’t see the economy here…Unless there is no electricity in the building (like a remote cabin or a backyard shed)…Also, eventually the equipment may need to be replaced after few years..batteries could go bad, solar panels loose cells and MPPT regulators could fail well before the initial investment is amortized.

Nice job Lady Ida! I see that you upgraded to 4 panels and a MPPT regulator…I’m wondering if you’re breaking even with this investment, considering that powering a fridge and a freezer is probably no more than maybe $200/year…unless, of course, I don’t see the “big picture” here and maybe you plan to hook more appliances on your solar power…I do have a little solar station myself in my backyard shed: I wanted to install a wireless camera so I could watch my dogs in that area and the cost of running underground power all the way that far was prohibitive. I already had a couple of older lead/acid batteries and I bought the cheapest 200w panels on Amazon with a PWM…yet, it cost me close to $200.00 just to get power to a camera!…But running underground wiring, to code, 18 in deep in conduit, CFGI and all would have cost me a lot more…Anyway, I can’t wait so see what’s coming up next on your solar station! Keep up the great work and don’t forget to enjoy yourself! Someone gave me a cool gift when I moved in my new house: it’s a sign that say: “Life is short, eat DESSERT FIRST!” Be Safe Lady Ida! 💐💕
@LadyoftheFarmАй бұрын
Hey, I am sorry I’m late to your comment, but I wanted to tell you that with all the experimenting I’ve done with solar panels not all of them are achieving their rated power which means you have to definitely read reviews and I have found some really nice panels that I upgraded to yes! for the fridge and freezer no, I did not break even so to say, but all of this is going with me to my future Homestead. I will not have electricity run to my house so I will need as much of my own power as I can muster so a freezer is a must and a fridge is a must so this is a good place to experiment! Thank you so much, my friend!🥰🐕🐕🌳🌸
