Thank you @SoloByte for making this when I needed it. I am a 32 year old C++ developer wit 8 years, feeling the job hunt struggle and getting burned out from all the LeetCode practice, recruiter video calls and interviews. I'm thinking of taking a break from all of it for a while and just go and screw around in Godot for fun to decompress or go back to one of my other hobbies thanks to your video. I tried Unreal Engine 5 before and did tutorials, but it's a hit-or-miss on Linux with Wayland and my 7 year old potato laptop cannot run it very well. I absolutely resonate with the component-style and composition-based programming as well. Your video really really inspired me. I must mention that the music choice is perfect. Finally it's not the generic influencer/vlogger style royalty-free background music that others use, but feels more personal and gives the feeling that we are joining you on your journey. Also the humor style and jokes work really well. :D

Hey thank you so much 🙏 it really means a lot to me, every single view on my videos is another reminder that I’m not just wasting my time. I can absolutely relate to your situation a lot, I personally have given up. I am probably going to be back in tech, but as for now, I have no motivation to. Oh, and it’s an honor for me to read that I inspired you to try something different. But I have to admit that I have used royalty free music 😅 and I can’t afford to pay for it :3

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love it. Super fun to watch. All the editing is very good, it makes me think that I should introduce the second character as well(lesson learned lol). I was wondering why you didn't deliver a new video on time, I was about to reach out and ask what a f*ck lol. I see why now, good job, I'm sure your channel will get the attention it deserves very soon, keep it going, man!!!

4:13 one could ask for it to work, going with godot instead of a real game engine is the single worst decision a game dev that needs to make money to survive can do. for me godot costed me at least 100k in profits, this is what my game made in the first year after release but I would have release the game a year sooner if I had went with unity from the get go. godot is okay only if you are doing small stuff

@@sasdasu00dfsdfardo interesting perspective. What are the challenges that you have faced? And what’s the game you have been working on?

Did you as a 30+ year old just make fun of a 14 year old's name for... no reason?

@@nerdvananc I should clarify here that it isn’t his real name, it’s a nickname. He leaked his real name later on a screen share, that I am not going to reveal. I made fun of the nickname.

That aside, it's a great video overall, but I think when reading the title a lot of people would expect an explanation of the code and how certain systems of the game work the way they do instead of the introspection about making games in general 😄

Hi! I started learning Godot a long time ago, but I feel like the progress I make it's too small compared to the time I put into this skill. I did participate in game jams however, and it was quite nice, made a few simple "games", but I don't like the slow progress I make. Since I always worked alone, I was wondering how it is to work in a team. My question is, how did you find the people you work with right now and how did you manage to form a team?

Hey 👋 there, thank you so much for watching the vid :3 I have found the guys on the game jam’s forum, there are a lot of people looking to organise themselves. I just messaged them, told about my situation and everyone was cool working together. The hard part is keeping everyone organised, for that basic software dev skills are not necessarily required, but they can contribute to a more lean workflow. - Keep everything modular, 1 function does only 1 thing. - learn and use git - organise task in a todo list or kanban board, there’s no one and only way to go here, you just want to avoid doing the same task twice by different team members - and communicate with the team members a lot, let people know what you are working on, learn to ask for help if stuck I hope this helps ;)

@SoloByteStudio thanks for the answer! I am looking to make a mobile app with some classmates, and these tips will sure come in handy. Also learning git it's a must-learn now, I will probably need to use it a lot.
