To anyone that has an Indian Chieftain 2018 or older, be aware that the 585s combine with the factory not strong enough valve springs can end up with engine failure. 2019 111s thunder stroke engines, come with a better/bigger cam chain tensioner and stronger high lift springs. I have a 2016 with 585s, VP60, Rinehart Slim headers, and a PVCX and when I drop my engine we found 2 of the valve seats destroyed and one of the springs ridding on the head. Now look like one of the valve seat pieces was the cause of my oil pump failure. So, to anyone that wants to install 585s with the factory springs (2014 to 2018) beware. I only had 5k on the 585s and my bike only has 9k miles. Will you get great power? hell yes, but there might be consequences.
@BrandonBicasso5 жыл бұрын
Good info, Walter. Was going to include that in my review of the 585s. Lloydz recently updated their website info for the 585s to reflect that.
@walterramirez32875 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonBicasso yes but too late for me and others. I might be looking at a 5k or more repair for wanting 20 to 25 more horses. The other thing is that if you take the bike to the dealer for the spring swap, you will be looking at $1200 labor or more because is almost the same labor of installing a 116 kit. So if the 585 cams swap/New springs are done at the dealer, It will end up being around $1800 to 2k. The parts are only $285 for the new high lift springs, retainers, and valve seats. Dropping the engine is not a big deal, just time-consuming. Is around 9 to 12 hours of labor depending on tools and knowledge.

@@walterramirez3287 For some reason your comment hit my spam so my apologies. I hate that I'm late to the party on it, but at least the info is out there. With many pre 19 thunder stroke models out there, your info/experience (while it sucks that it happened to you) is still valuable to other peeps out there. ❤

@@BrandonBicasso No problem Bro. just want to save Indian riders the headaches of big repair bills. We changed the springs on a 2016 the other day and there was very little damage to the valve seats, but it was starting to create a groove. A friend with a 2018 had the 585's for longer than me(around8K miles) and he found zero damage. I guess is the luck of the draw.

Ok, after the 585s installed, what mod have been done to this bike? does this make a stage 2 or 3 level(?) Is there a slightly less aggressive cam replacement avaliable? Don't race Jared today cause I think by the sound of your 109, you've lost some torque and hp with you exhaust mod
@BrandonBicasso4 жыл бұрын
No mods after this and less aggressive is 558s. Stage2/3
@BrandonBicasso4 жыл бұрын
Also, lol... my 109 isn't threatened. 🤣 It's been that way since 2014 and no bagger in my group has come close to it yet. They're adding power to try to compete with it, actually. It's like that when you owned one before and miss the way it puts down power.

Hey man , when there's a demo ride and an accident like that happens , I'm sure the bog bill goes too who caused the fault . Is there anything else that happens or is there paper work that's filled out first
@BrandonBicasso5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the dealer. I've seen people total bikes on demo rides and get off free of having to pay. Reason being, dealers have insurance too in case it happens. So, if one were on the hook for payments, you'd fill out an accident report and they'd treat it like a regular car accident. Our insurance people call your insurance people.

I'm planning to upgrade my bike to stage 2 (Indian cams) any advice? I didn't like the way they put holes on your 111 engine!
@BrandonBicasso5 жыл бұрын
What holes are you referring to? The drilled holes? Those are ports for the oxygen sensors. After they are done, the drilled holes are capped off and covered by the head cover. You wouldn't know they were there without me showing you. 100% no visual issue.

How much they cost with installation and dyno?
@BrandonBicasso5 жыл бұрын
It depends. I may need to do a video on this because if you don't have a tuner, that's an included cost of about $400. The cams and dyno are about $799 then you have to have the tuner. Also, you have to get a stage 1 air filter which is another added cost. Also, a less restrictive exhaust set up.
