2022 update here! • Maxing Out Roth IRA Co...
My new finance channel is live ‪@ThriftyTony‬
After 4 years with robo-advisor Wealthfront, I earned an impressive 55% time-weighted return on my Roth IRA investment account through automatic investing. The only time I had to lift a finger was at the beginning of 2019 when I maxed out my Roth IRA contributions. Other than that, Wealthfront automatically invested my savings into stocks, bonds, and real estate with a 9 out of 10 risk score.
This video is a walkthrough and review of my Wealthfront investment account showing you how much money I contributed and earned over 4 years as well as each year annualized. With a low fee of just 0.25%, Wealthfront is the investment advisor I trust with for my Roth IRA and emergency fund.

Hi Tony! Thanks for making the content. So, I noticed you had made a video of your Betterment Invenstment account and I was wondering what made you make the change to Wealthfront? Or Are you still investing with Betterment as well?... Also, I know the we had a rough 2018 that perhaps prompted you to change platforms but I'm just curious about the reason behind your change (if you did) as I'm trying to decide between platforms for investing purposes. Thanks in advance!
@TonyFlorida
@TonyFlorida 4 жыл бұрын
I actually ended up closing my Betterment investment account as part of that video you saw. My decision to move away from Betterment was independent of the market returns in 2018. Basically, I saw slightly higher returns with my Wealthfront portfolio vs Betterment and if I recall correctly, Betterment didn't have real estate (not sure if that's still the case) while Wealthfront does. While this doesn't really justify if one is better than the other, it really comes down to a matter of personal preference. Honestly, the fact that you are investing your money with a low-cost investment advisor in either case is an awesome thing. I commend you for that :)

Hey Tony, quick question. I am totally new to this Wealthfront and I want to try this. So, the question is there are 4 different types of accounts when we get started let’s say if I go with high interest account or investment account..Can I take my money out(withdrawal to my personal checking account) whenever I want or do they have some rules saying that we can’t withdraw money for a specified time?
@TonyFlorida
@TonyFlorida 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the account type. With a high interest account or taxable investment account, you'll be able to pull your money out at any time. If you choose an IRA, there are some rules with this account time for withdrawals.

Hi Joshua. This isn't a 401k account but rather an IRA. My goal with my IRA is not to access it until I retire. There are some stipulations if you want to withdraw before 59 1/2 years old: www.schwab.com/ira/roth-ira/withdrawal-rules

Hi Tony, if I wanted to invest with wealthfront but would like to take my money out after 5 years? What account would be best?
@TonyFlorida
@TonyFlorida 4 жыл бұрын
Weathfront has a taxable account which will best suit your needs. A taxable account isn't a retirement account, but rather a basic investing account in which your earnings are taxed when you withdraw. Therefore, you can withdraw whenever you want without restrictions. I personally use a taxable account for my emergency fund.

Great question. I should make a video update about this. I'm seeing a YTD return of 0.94% and a lifetime return of 48.39%. Here's the breakdown of my YTD stats: - US Stocke 5.5% - Foreign Stocks -3.5% - Emerging Markets -1.0% - Dividend Stocks 4.0% - Real Estate -10.3% - Corporate Bonds 9.0% - Emerging Market Bonds 2.1% This breakdown really proves the importance of diversification. Real estate pretty much tanked but who knew corporate bonds would perform fantastically.

if you deposited 26,085 dollars and you now have 33,395 dollars, your 4 years gain is 28%. it's not bad, but considering today's markets you underperformed. you can easily make more. had you bought S&P500 4 years ago, your 26,085 dollars will amount to 42,890 dollars. that's around 65%.
