So good. I’m trying to work through the belief that I’m not safe if money gets thin. I have such a panic. Comes from when my parents first divorced and my dad left us destitute. Watching this reminded me my mom is a very fearful person and I probably took on a lot of her fears. Who I am at my core would have been more trusting during those lean times but I enmeshed with her fears taking them on as my own. I became her emotional caregiver during this time as she hit a deep depression. I was 7. Thanks Abby for another amazing video. I find the visuals extremely helpful.

Wow! This brought tears to my eyes! Sending you a hug! Another thing that could be happening it Low money or when money gets thin=carrying the emotional load of someone else. So if part of you is responding on that old dynamic which is highly possible, it may not just be that you were scared.. it was that you not only had to care for you but also your mom. So possible that overload of emotionally carrying and tending to her is also what you are relating to low money. Does that resonate?

@@AbbyRuston oh good observation… holy shit 💥 my big thing is I’m the breadwinner in my family and feel the pressure to provide and that’s doubly hard when it’s art vs a product… I can totally see it’s like I’m that little girl having to take care of my mom again instead of enjoying being a little kid (or grown Skye who just wants to create). 😭😭😭
@AbbyRuston

@@wohphoto well i would ask, are you the breadwinner bc you want to be and it brings you deep satisfaction and enjoyment? or are you the breadwinner bc you are still being who you had to be as that little girl taking care of your mom? There is no bad or wrong in either answer, more so to help you bring awareness to yourself as to what is the best choice for you in your current world!

@@AbbyRuston I definitely love the incredible opportunity I have to make money in my field. I attracted a husband who I have to take care of in that respect as he brings in smaller money even though he has the potential for more. He does help me though with my business which gives me the opportunity to be more successful. It’s just the pressure when things thin out that causes an almost PTSD reaction within me. I just did a bit of inner child work and will sit with this as more awareness comes. You are such a blessing to so many. You being you. ♥️
@AbbyRuston

That's beautiful you have found a partner who is supportive and helps as you need for you to feel free. The best thing I can tell you is when things get thin really start to try to slow down mentally. Like ok here we go, what meaning am i giving this? What does this mean will happen? Really focus on your breathing to help regulate your body. The more awareness you can cultivate in that moment and respond differently to it, the more you can create a new dynamic. I would also suggest some somatic body work with this since it was so early on and such intense stress emotions. That can help you process it from your body. Hope this helps! ❤️

Thank you very much for the video, Abby. I can’t resist the urge to make a few comments in response to what you say about self-worth, because actually I feel triggered by your remarks. Years of delving into spirituality have led me to a crucial insight; which might just explain exactly why self-love/esteem seems almost impossible to realise & demonstrate. I rather suspect that the real foundation of all self-loathing/hatred is the hard-core disbelief in & intense hostility towards the (spiritual) truth that everyone is worthy of respect simply because they exist. Existence itself alone is the basis & proof of worthiness. Unfortunately the vast majority of humanity (including myself) find it easy to praise a saint but extremely difficult to respect a sinner or a criminal, because most human beings believe that actions/performances are the (sole) determinant of worth. Moreover, mainstream culture in the modern world does NOT encourage judging ONLY the wrong or evil conduct at issue but not the accused/convicted person(s).
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston 6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for taking the time to share this with me. I can understand what you shared in terms of it being hard to find someone who commits terrible crimes or abuses other as worthy.. I myself have a hard time understanding the depths of it..I can take in the idea that we are one and that God or the Universe is fractured out in life and ultimately within us.. and because of that even the dark parts of life also have God in them. Theoretically i can understand that, but taking into practice is difficult and you aren't alone in that. I do still stand by my remark that existence is proof of worth. And for you now, taking it closer in to see that within yourself and someone who may be struggling on the streets as well. Starting there and building it up and working on understanding at the higher level is my process that helps me attend to myself to evolve. Perhaps as i do i will understand the topic we are talking about and maybe not, but i know starting close in is scary and hard and sometimes it's easier to look outside and get caught in things that are hard to understand... bc then we don't have to look inside.. that's at least things i've done in the past to distract myself from myself.. not sure if you relate, but wanted to share!
@sudoku47
@sudoku47 6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your reply, Abby. My own difficulty is that much as I would like to believe that existence itself is already sufficient proof of worth, I never really dare to believe that I am worthy of respect (at least from myself) simply because I exist. And I suspect that your (or other people’s) reluctance to look within springs from the subconscious fear of encountering “evidence” of unworthiness. This fear is total rubbish if one truly believes that existence IS proof of worth!@@AbbyRuston

I also found i needed to understand how i got here and what was going on.. or i would just default to the fear and hold on and resist. I felt so powerless and weak. Why can others do it and I can't.. why can't i do the thing i want to do.. why is this impulse why can't i get free.. and as I was taught i saw ohhhh part of me is actually trying to keep me safe. and unless i see and understand myself more i will simply keep repeating the old pattern out of a self preservation mechanism.. so i'm glad it is helping you as well!

I wouldn’t necessarily believe that our caregivers (my parents in my case) were doing the best they could… They were verbally abusive to me, I don’t mean using profanity, I mean telling me that my hopes and interests were unimportant, that millions of persons were smarter, physically stronger, and more capable than me… Being biologically capable of being a parent doesn’t mean that one should be one! I should add that ignorance is NO excuse for treating badly one’s own child; don’t know how to be a supportive parent-then don’t be a parent!! Simple, isn’t it?!
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston 6 ай бұрын
You are absolutely right. Being in an adult body and having the ability to have a child doesn't automatically give the person the emotional skills and capacity to give that child what the child deserves. When I say they did the best they could, that doens't mean what they gave was good or right. It doesn't mean that you got what you deserved or what you experienced was fair. It's only to say that the person around you as shitty and mean as they were wasn't holding back something better for you, they didn't have anything else. They lack the skills. You couldn't have been any different to change your circumstances then. Nothing you did or didn't do made them treat you that way, that was on them. You deserved love, compassion, connection and nurturing. You getting anything less than that is a reflection of that people around you, not you! Sending you love ❤️

@@AbbyRuston Thank you for your compassionate reply, I did understand that my parents were wrong in their treatment of me, didn’t make it any easier to endure, and I maintain my stance of resentment towards them for it. I’m trying to get them out of my mind completely… I don’t accept that the lack of knowledge or parenting skills in any way absolves them of responsibility! I educated myself, so it can be done. Probably the main reason that I didn’t become a parent myself. Who needs the aggravation in today’s world. Anyway, I like your videos, I have most of Neville’s writings, you explain them very well. Thank you!
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston 6 ай бұрын
It never absolves them. And any release of resentment isn't about you saying what they did was ok, it's about you cutting the cord of their ignorance from your life for YOUR sake. To finally have the peace in your life that you always deserved. I highly recommend somatic therapy to help you get more aware from your higher mind of the dynamics and allowing your body to process the emotions from the past. This is about you, not them. Sending you love ❤️

@@AbbyRuston Thanks again for your understanding and compassion. I don’t believe in any invisible deity that judges us, or whatever he/she/it is doing, but I like to repeat to myself, and to others occasionally, that if I have any religious beliefs at all (I don’t really) it would be that my religion is kindness, to all forms of life… My greatest regrets in life are, looking back, that in retrospect I could have been more thoughtful of the needs of others, and I’m still troubled thinking of specific instances in which I could have done even a small kindness and failed to do so. Anyway, that’s for me to live with, I’ve learned something in my life, pity that I didn’t understand it sooner. Still learning, at least I’ve never caused anyone any serious physical injury… I’m still trying to understand how to emit , if that’s the proper term, the specific frequency of being a multimillionaire, as some say, that’s necessary to manifest being one. I had tried to send you an email about that; it’s simple enough to recommend that, but how is it done?!! Seems like telling someone who’d like to be taller, for example, to just get onto the frequency of being taller 😆… I’m not being sarcastic, just expressing my frustration at not yet having succeeded 😆. I’m open to further dialogue about this with you if you’re open to it. All my best to you! And I’m not trying to rush or force anything into happening, just trying to clarify so as to not waste my time or effort in doing anything wrongly. Cheers!

Yes everyone is our teacher, but if you grew up with an abusive teacher.. you could think teachers are abusive. So to come back to yourself and understand the lessons early on teachers were giving could have been over the level a child could handle and that causes wounds... that eventually can be healed. I've had abusive people in my life as an adult and i've learned immense lessons from them to the point I can now learn a different lesson. To really live in the end, we must give back the treatment of others and update our self concept to our inherent self worth! 🥳

Hello, you are saying that we can reframe our childhood beliefs from a different adult perspective. Sometimes, I have problems doing that because I forgot what beliefs I held when I was a child and secondly, I suspect some of my beliefs are embedded in my subconscious mind.
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston 16 күн бұрын
The beliefs are embedded into your subconscious. You don't need to remember the perspective as a kid. Ask yourself... Why you can't have what you want... why are the current circumstances happening in your life? This will help bring to your awareness your beliefs.. when these pop up, you can start to consider when you first felt this way or the first time someone treated you this way/told you something like this.. remember there are lots of examples where no one said or did anything directly and you just took a meaning from it. This is where you can start to see that old perspective with your adult mind now and completely shift your perspective! I have a video coming out soon about this!

Love to hear this!! As you start to recognize the pattern and become aware of it IN the moment it wasn't to impulsively come out, this is where you can start to respond different which as the seeds of potential to change your entire world. Realize this goes for how you interpret aka what meaning you give to what people tell you as well as if someone doesn't call or flakes. The more you can become aware of the meaning, you can then upgrade your meaning as you are shifting your belief and respond differently in that moment which may look like you advocating for your needs or setting boundaries with others to help you keep you safe and basically say a no to the old dynamic and a yes to whats good for your growth! ❤️

Great catch. This is why you have to be VERY clear on your own shit.. and EVERYONE has shit.. so when you know your perceptual bias.. for example mine is abandonment.. so when you start to see the meaning.. you can own that and take the energy and go deeper to heal. If you don't know your shit, someone else will be in their shit and you think it's your own! My mentor always says become a detective to yourself!

I like the way you explain things. It is easy to follow and understand. However, I'm still not sure how to get rid of the limiting belief that friends will abandon me sooner or later or that none of my friendships will last. I understand where this is coming from. Even as early as when I was in elementary school, I did have friends. I had friends to play with during breaks, I was accepted and never bullied. However, everything was limited to school. When it came to meeting outside of school, no one ever asked me. If it wasn't for me calling my friends and asking for play dates, I would have never had any play dates. It has always been me who had to put in the effort. And it only continued as I got older. I never had a best friend or a stable group of (close) friends. The friendships I made never lasted long. I'm now 26 years old and I have only one friend (now my best friend) who I could safely say that I can truly rely on. So in this case, it is hard for me to believe that it wasn't/isn't me. If it were only 1-2 people who I had to experience abandonment with, I could perhaps say they were emotionally unavailable or something, but the experience never stopped and if there are so many people showing you the same unwanted experience, namely leaving you at some point or not making an effort for the friendship, it gets very hard to believe it isn't me. So I really don't know how to fix or work on that :/ All I want is a solid group of true friends who I can rely on or celebrate my birthday with and create memories...

@@AbbyRuston yes, I have an older sister, but we always got on well and I had loving parents. That's what makes it a bit harder for me to understand and work with your advice, NOT because it is bad ot anything, but simply because the root cause is not my parents or family, honestly. Do you know how else I can fix this limiting belief ? Again, I appreciate your videos and advice, I love how you explain things !

This was so good! What to do if we don't have a lot of childhood memories? With some beliefs I can't find the root of the problem to dismantle it
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston Жыл бұрын
Do your best to work with the earliest memory and just start to see your child self through your adult mind. I thought I had a bad memory for so long, but really a lot of my childhood, i was clingy I would leave me and not be somatically in my body, so i kinda wasn't there. Think of when someone is talking and you space out. If as a kid you were trying to get your needs met and that was blaring in your head, you may not have been present to remember. Also too you can potentially access the memories, kids will repress or suppress things that they can't handle or are very uncomfortable.

Warm greetings from the Czech Republic. It will be 15 years since I learned from the book The Secret, how the Law of Attraction Works. Of course, the first thing that came to my mind was to attract money, a sea of money. But unfortunately, I found that I have a block in my mind for really large amounts of money. I tried to figure out the block, but alas, my subconscious does everything to keep me from figuring it out. Other things work for me, when it seems strange to my friends, they think I'm very lucky. That money block is very strong, as strong as the fear of death. Abby, please, how do I figure this out? Thank you

Thank you so much! Question, I have a friend that can recognize their patterns but they have completely blocked out parts of their young life and they now struggle to pinpoint the roots of specific events that started beliefs. They do not remember. What can they do to unearth this level of trauma to cut out the root belief that keeps them in a loop of manifesting the abandonment pattern in relationships?
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston Жыл бұрын
I would recommend a somatic therapist. The reason for this is they will work with the body to help release the suppressed emotions from the experiences that were too much for them to process as a kid. In the meantime, starting to look at the unwanted dynamic in life, what is the common theme or repeated pattern? What is the assumption that person has about themselves from this repeated pattern? And started to see what meanings they are putting on things.. This video will help explain what i mean kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ_PmIaYbpecfrc Hope this helps

11:30 this is what I needed to hear. This is trauma work, in essence, yes? To change our interpretations of wound-memories/feeling-contexts using our adult minds? Legit question tho: I have perhaps less than a handful of memories from before age 7... There's a fog blanketing all those memories. What would u do in this case? Even tho yes, all these beliefs were put in place by experiences I had, at the root level, I'm not sure how to locate the root memories. I really liked what you said about current events being expressions of beliefs, and how pouring energy into 'fixing' the expression is not helpful Overall, I understand better btw. Thank you for the video. It was never me who created those beliefs. To cut roots is to integrate the past into our self-concept (if that makes sense) in a healthy way. So it's like cultivating a new way of looking at things? Like the glass you held out at the beginning, the glass I'm currently seeing through is something I can just... put down?
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston Жыл бұрын
"it was never me who created those beliefs" THIS IS SO HUGE for you to see! It is cultivating a new way of seeing YOU and creating that connection and trust as you do. Yes as you are aware of it, you can make a new choice in the moment. You will be shocked at how much you have been looking through it and also interpretation each moment or others actions according to it.. in my example "oh they aren't calling back bc i'm not good enough" or "if I was more attractive then they would want to be with me" Every thing i saw was through a self degradation lens and so that's what i kept re-creating. As I was aware, i started to give my own meaning which most of the time why someone is doing or not doing something actually has nothing to do with you!
@AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston Жыл бұрын
You do not have to get to every origin or source or even every single time it happened, think of the first time you remember it. That is where to work from to bring your adult mind in. So don't relive it through your childs eyes. Take your adult self back there and see that moment of you and the other person in a new way. Think of you going back there as the mother you needed or the big sister or simply your higher self protecting and standing up for you. Does that make sense?

How does this apply to other aspects of life, such as sickness or physical problems that don't have anything to do with beliefs about unworthiness? Just curious, because I am in a perpetual cycle of something that I can't seem to get out of. If you are meaning how do I know the brain scans and only allows certain things into conscious awareness, there is a very detailed book called "Vital Lies and Simple truths" by Daniel Goleman that goes into to details about how our perceptions work and how our subconscious blocks out certain things that will bring us "anxiety" I think that idea of what would make us scared could be a HUGE variety of things and we could even fear things we want based on outdated experiences with what other ppl said it means or how they treated people who had it. @AbbyRuston
@AbbyRuston Жыл бұрын
With my own experience, the WHAT is more important than then HOW.. meaning having awareness of that belief is more important than how it got there. Once you know of it, then you can start to ask when you believed it where true.. the earliest time.. this is where you can start to cut the root.. it may not bring up the very first memory that your parent said something, but when you can use your adult mind to see yourself different in that memory and shift that the authority knew better, that's when you can shift that the belief no longer has relevance for you. You have outgrown it. Does that make sense?
