"Every action you take is casting a vote for the type of person you want to become". Great Advice. I remember seeing this line in the book Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Growth vs Safety, single biggest learning to make a quantum leap towards a better life
@murtazaarif6507 Жыл бұрын
Self actualization along with esteem which this video covers are all levels of growth in Dr Maslow's model of 'Hierarchy of Needs'. Safety is part of the bottom level deficiencies. We progresses from the bottom going upwards towards growth. Safety does not stand against growth. Growth is not possible without first feeling safe.

In order for us to grow we must first feel safe and secure. Aka, biological and physical needs being met such as food, shelter, etc.

Let's also not forget the other levels of life subjects in Dr Maslow's model of 'Hierarchy of Needs' that lie below the Self Actualization level as you have only covered esteem and accomplishments. Below that we start from the bottom by considering our deficiencies related to our environment, sense of security and connections with others.

This is such an important topic and is the reason I created my KZbin channel❗️NOTE : self-actualised people are said to have a mission that is outwardly focused. So focus on intrinsic motivators and set meaningful goals.

Hi. I really appreciate your videos. My son with moderate autism is 14 & he chooses to view them often. I have an idea for you. It would help on a global level. You see there isn’t much in the way of social stories for autistic teens for things like, puberty, proper social contact, appropriate social context and where we should touch ourselves and others, the things we do in private. My son loves the psychological deep thinking and reasonings you all give to these videos. I hope maybe this will seed a new project or possibly for someone else. Thank you kindly for your time.

As much as I want to like this video (liked!), I can't help but question how the "Growth" part can become actualized; especially when there is so much discrimination, particularly against white males in general? How can we get better at a job, if we don't qualify for affirmative action? How can we get better at sex, if it's not allowed? How can one get better at living if we're not allowed to live, (or be!)? So it would seem to me that despite the video being highly normative, we must find and be given opportunities TO grow, otherwise, it sure is safe to do nothing and hang out, not make mistakes, and just... wither away..
