Never thought I'd have to learn actual car physics to tune a videogame car, lmao. I learned some things atleast. The amount of tuning options in this game is actually intimidating at first glance. Compare this to MostWanted and the difference is absolutely insane.

I agree right! When I was a child I never used to fiddle around there 🤣 I did the once and it scared me for life lol... Some of the new games are not even as advanced when it comes to the Dyno tuning 🙌

As an addendum: You can also modify numerous suspension and downforce values to encourage oversteer or understeer. Since these SUVs weigh a billion pounds, I'd guess some of these methods wouldn't be *as* effective as on regular road cars and race cars, but nonetheless the methodology still works: 1) Downforce. If you increase front downforce and decrease rear downforce (or vice versa), this can have a major influence on the car's steering ability. High front downforce/low rear downforce encourages oversteer, which would help getting these behemoths around the corners. 2) Anti-roll bars: these have a direct influence on steering as well. A soft front anti-roll bar with a stiff rear anti-roll bar grants oversteer, good for FWDs in general and any car that has a natural inclination towards understeer. The opposite is true as well, giving understeer, which is a good tactic to use when a car is really tail-happy and skittish in general. 3) Ride height. You can have a lower front and a higher rear to encourage oversteer, inverse is true for understeer. 4) Springs and dampers: soft front/stiff rear = oversteer, stiff front/soft rear = understeer. Turning ability can also be influenced by limited-slip differential tuning and toe/camber settings, but I'm not sure if NFSU2 supports these or not. I regularly used the RSX and Civic in this game for most events and this type of knowledge made those cars even more fun to drive, even for drifting events. Altering the tire grip settings for front/rear would also help naturally, less grip on the rear would let the rear slide more/easily.

@@TheOverclock This arcade physics in nfsu2 came out fantastic, you explained it perfectly! The only thing that annoys me is the AI. I uploaded some mod that disables "ai catch up" and it's also hard++ level, but those damn cheaters are still catching up me. They have some ultra grip 😂

Aside from the corolla and miata, all of the cars have this really annoying pendulum feel to how they steer. It's really lazy and unresponsive cars like the 3000gt and eclipse especially suffer from it. I've tried tightening up the suspension in the rear to get it to respond a bit better but it hadn't helped. The stock setting seems to be the best. And because of this, nothing but the corolla and miata is fun to drive.
