Diego Hypolito is one of Brazil's most successful gymnasts. He won Gold medals at the 2005 and 2007 World Championships and Silver in 2006. A floor routine specialist, he was one of Brazil's biggest hopes at Beijing 2008. " In Beijing, I landed on my backside, in London I landed on my face... This time, I landed on my feet, with my head held high!" Enjoy watching his big moment at Rio 2016! #OlympicMemories

In the end he wasn't screaming for the medal he was screaming for that he didnt fall. He managed to beat his fear and stand on his feet, a true warrior. In all aspects in life the only fight we have to take is the fight with ourselves.

He got depressed, literally sick. We're all humans, we all have flaws and bad moments. Couldn't be different for him. But as you all can see, he stand up and did what he did. A true hero and pride for his country. Thanks to the channel for such a great compilation, thank you all for the comments. God bless you all. 🙏🏼

We all know he is capable of the most perfect landing. For athletes of his calibre, it is a given. No question about it..... Sometimes the moment of stress or the slippery mat or the little bit of sweat just creates that 1% chance of malfunction. It is heartbreaking because he used his entire life for that moment.

Diego Hypolito is the poster child for tenacity. My father used to take me to Boy Scouts and he would drive me on my paper route and to swim practice, to diving practice, to football, track, field, motocross...he bent over backwards to take me to all these events. I never gave up. I never let up. When i fell i got up again. We would drive hours to some of these events and if i fall down i am going to get up because my father did not drive that far and spend all that money for a quitter. He never told me that...i just knew that when you fall off a horse you get back on that horse because that's what winners do. This Olympian never stayed down. He always got up. I was crying as i watched this video because i knew he was going to put it all together. I was pulling for him...cheering him on. I felt like the official who put the medal on his neck hugged him in congratulations obviously knowing his tough luck in earlier olympics. Perseverence got him onto that podium. I am very proud of him and i have never met him. BRAVO Diego Hypolito!

He was the reigning world champion entering the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as the #1 qualifier he was on his way to a gold medal or a medal until he sat down on his final pass and it costs him a medal, in 2012 he had another disaster in the qualifying round and did not make the final, and in his home Olympics in 2016 in Rio with home crowd cheering on him, with perhaps his final Olympics, I remember he made the final and I was keeping his fingers cross for him in every tumbling pass, and he was finally clean in all of them, and also during that moment I went back to relive the agony of what happened to him 8 years ago, knowing that I was so relief that he earned the silver medal and a medal in his career finally.

As Brazilian, I see that Diego represents one of the main characteristics that I learned to admire in my country: the persistence. The life here isn't easy for the majority of the population, we have corruption, injustice almost in all parts of the society... But with the faith and the good persistence of many people, it's possible to find some "Diegos" in each part of Brazil. By the grace of the Lord, I'm one who also won: in my case, I won (with the love of the Lord) the death. I was abused when I was child... I was growing and understanding what happened. I became depressed and I had a huge fear to go out of my home. I thought to kill myself until someday I revolted with that supposed Jesus who someone told me about. I passed an afternoon asking and calling that Jesus: WHY? I was cured simply on an afternoon... I felt his curr and love, after to fall almost on the edge of the death. It's a long comment, I know... But as Diego taught me about it, maybe this testimonial can help and teach someone. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Even with this difficult times that we're passing, the Lord didn't forget us... Everything is being fullfiled according the Bible. I love you regardless who you are.

very important to note that last bit where he was proudly showing to everyone his silver medal! theres a funny meme picture about how its not what you win but how you feel about it where a kid wins gold but is crying but the kid with bronze/silver is elated. important life lesson. we can only control our own thoughts, reactions, perceptions, etc

Esto SI es un vídeo de superación y no toda la basura de Influmierders dándoselas de amigos y de coach motivacionales. Te has roto en la caída? No, verdad? Pues te levantas y vuelves al ruedo.

So happy for him. He's so happy with the silver medal. A few athletes could look at that as an example of it not being disgraceful to be second or third.
