What you called a potato masher is used for cutting butter or shortening into flour when you make pie crusts, not sure if it was actually a potato masher as well. I wish we had sales like that here. 😊

Not a potato masher. It is a tool when baking to incorporate the cold butter into the flour. To break the cold butter into tiny pieces.

I was born in 1957 and I love anything that reminds me of family members that are no longer here. Grandma loved Christmas. Her house was decorated like a wonderland for us kids. Literally EVERYTHING had christmas covers and decorations on it. So vintage Christmas is my ultimate favorite items to pick up at garage sales and thrift shops.

Purim it is our Holiday to celebrate Queen Esther and not being annihilated by the Persian Empire. Costumes are part of the revelry. Maybe why the noise makers had a star of David?

I couldn’t believe you found Revere ware. That was my first set 35 years ago. I bought it at Caldor. They had it incorrectly priced for 19.99. Was supposed to be 119.99. They gave it to me for the price marked 19.99. Just converted over to Le Creuset a few years ago. It will last you for many years. Great find!👍🏻

That was another great estate sale! When they have that much left on day two and three, it is best to fill your bag like you two did because they want to get rid of as much as possible. You came away with some nice things to use like those pans and also some nice things to resell. Thanks for sharing!

There’s an even older design of that noise maker style where the dancers and objects around them are just black silhouettes on an orange background.

You cannot beat Revere Ware original. They are not only tough quality yet light, the nest better and they are more compact in design including the edges and handles, they fit so much better than other pots (whether fancy expensive or cheap) bath in cabinets and dishwashers! That’s what I grew up on and thats what I still insist on finding even if they unfortunately ended up being Indonesian in build.

Kitchen reminds me of my grandparents kitchen. I think it was ‘50s but could have been ‘40s. Don’t know when it had been renovated. It was a Victorian house from 1909 but they bought it 1949. Don’t know if they renovated it, and never heard from my mom about that who just died a few months back.

That's so funny, I have the green handled pastry cutter you got. I love it and use it every time I make pie. Of course the paint on mine is pristine. Those thin wires are better for mixing dough than the modern thicker metal types. I always take care to hand wash it and dry it as soon as I'm done using it. It's lasted for years. Love those red devil scrapers too! Fun find!
