In the beginning, I did a ton of research and I did that alongside jumping in and getting my hands dirty trying things out. I love that you talked about figuring out your niche and then streaming the process. I’m at the streamlining phase this year - “efficiency” is actually my business word for 2024.

We are starting our flower farm in the spring. I have ordered 25 Dahlia tubers (needed 160) and 1 peony (lol). I have all my annual seeds in my shopping cart to order next month. We are starting with a 50x80 plot, 8 rows. We have plenty of land to expand when we get to that point. What is the bare minimum equipment/supplies that we need to get started? Favorite buckets? We live 2 miles down a dirt road so we will probably have to put a stand somewhere on the main road. We are so excited and know the first year will be hard!

Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s very inspiring. I don’t have space at home to grow much so have just started an allotment. I’m planning on growing lots of flowers and hopefully will have enough to give away as gifts while gaining experience. One day, maybe, with lots of work and finding a space of my own to grow on, it’ll transition from hobby to business

A flower farm has been my dream for a few years, and this year I am starting super small, with plan to go bigger next year in two spaces, well two types of flowers. This is my tester/learning year. And I am still currently employed full time and the figuring out of what can be done when is the hardest part. For instance I also make garden content, so I was planting bulbs by flashlight this morning so I could record what I was doing, while praying no spiders or snakes snuck up on me and swatting away the annoying gnats this time of year. This has given me hope that all this is not in vain. Thank you!

This is a great video. So much info. for those getting started and old fossils like me. I started as part of my already huge garden obsession, for a hobby, retired. Going to market, selling a few things. I was not aware yrs. back of this farming comm.. To do this as an actual business. Oh ...it was online..I was just in the dirt too much with my head down!! I'm just a larger flower hippie now. But....wishing I'd have seen info. like this/others... to see what I could've done. Too far down the road for hoophouses,acreage/etc. now....but none the less... enjoying the ride, and learning along the way. Always enjoy seeing what you're doing and how you got there.
